You guys still read John Oesher?

I even pondered if he might have whacked his arm right at the tail end of the game. The next several games he looked really bad, and he said himself that he then injured his arm in the Titans game. For several weeks after that, he couldn't do much at all, and I don't really think he started looking like himself passing until December.
We never played the Bears....

It's possible that the surgery could help relieve that and aid him in taking the next step with his release. Maybe even allow him to get a bit more spin/less wobble.

Here's hoping that's the case. It could end up helping his accuracy a bit. Pure speculation here though.

No, we look like we are in pain/wincing when Bortles throws the ball.  Laughing

BB5 is my quarterback, at least until the team changes direction,  but this made me spit out my water lol.

We never played the Bears....

Week 6 2016.

You got to get on the mythical #deadarm time machine to run with this particular theory.

We’ll see soon enough how much of an impact the wrist injury had on his game.

It's a rather convincing theory watching the tape from 2016. Put on the Raiders game and tell me his arm isn't wore out already.

Simply put, roughly from week 7 through maybe week 13, he could hardly throw. Week 14 he had a game against the Vikings where it finally looked like he was back on track.

I hear ya.
We just have different perspectives on this whole arm fatigue thing with our boy Skeeter.

Every year for three years you've pointed to moments when you estimated his arm was "done."  And you may be on to something, but I just see it a little differently.

In 2014-16 there the dude simply didn't use his lower body on 70% of his throws. He tried to do it all with arm. He didn't step into throws and open his hips toward target on release. And when he did - it was clunky and ill-timed.
Of course he got tired. He was throwing with a ridiculously inefficient motion.

In 2017 he did less of this and his conditioning was better. Maybe he still had some fatigue here and there from lapses in technique and just being an NFL player in the grind of a season, but I didn't really see any blatant signs of his arm giving out on him. Seemed like there were just weeks when he threw the ball better than other weeks.

The wrist and fatigue could have played a role, but it didn't seem that way to me.

I hope the surgery and another couple weeks in CA with House and company have him leveling up in September.
Please merge to bb5 injury

I agree that this past year his arm was fine all season long despite his consistent listing on the injury report. I figured this is because they managed to factor in the run game enough that he never had to throw too much. As long as they continue to monitor and stay on top of his arm like the did this past season, he should be ok. I just feel it's still an issue that can arise, and as such it makes paying him a risky proposition. With that in mind, I believe the structure of his latest contract is ideal.

You do know that Blake Bortles go to the ball 523 times last year which was 11 most in the NFL right? He threw the ball quite a bit but his mechanics has held up because For the First Time in his career he has good coaching instead of coaches from the clearance rack. LOL

Indeed 11th most, aka middle-of-the-pack, is so much better than the 2016 when for most of the year he led the entire league in pass attempts.

When I questioned Oesher about it he said he had little input about the injury and did not know if it was an issue.
