He also wouldn't get the targets he wanted and he won't be thrilled about how much they ask him to block either.

This.

His talent would be wasted here. This is a running team not a passing team. there is no playbook with alot of passes being held back. just more runs if you open it up. The reason Arob chose to leave is he knew he would not be targeted as much as he wants here. Look at the moves this team has made, we will actually run even more this year then last year. OBJ may be a great WR but here he would only be a tall skinny blocker.
I would love for us to have OBJ here
2 first round picks (likely throwing in other picks due to late in the round), plus finding a way to mortgage the future cap to pay him $16-20m per year.... Love me some OBJ but no.

Disagree.

His talent wouldn’t be wasted in Jax. Sure, this is a running team but that’s because that is where the teams strength is at the moment. Last couple of years prior, the Jags were a passing team so the identity of passing vs running can be changed rather quickly with the right pieces.

I could see OBJ getting as many targets in Jax as Hopkins does in Houston. Lol tall skinny blocker, he’s under 6 foot...
Couldn't be just me if you want odell who is not the best wr in the league maybe top 5 but we could of kept arob who is very good.

Let it go. ARob is mediocre. Good lord.
No thx...
Yeah obj is nice but not for trade price/contract he wants.
Ramsey always wanting us to spend his money on other players

yes a couple years ago we were a passing team. Different Coach and OC its why Arob and Ahurns put up good numbers. We now have a Head Coach and OC who want to run the ball more then pass. Arob saw this and decided to take his talents elsewhere. Yes we could change but only after we get a Coach and OC that will run a more open passing offense. Its not about the talent of the players we have but what the philosophy of the Head Coach and OC which determines how our offense is run. The team is behind the coach and are making moves to fit this running attack more. Things like adding double tight end sets, getting the oline upgrade to run better, not going after a passing QB in fa but keeping the QB they know will not start throwing passes when they call runs. I think ppl just assume its BB fault we dont pass much but it is not. The coaches are the conservitive ones and that will not change as long as they are here.

They resorted to passing more than they would have liked to in 2015 because they had no run game.
But all of that stuff is ancient history now.  Doesn't matter.  New regime in place.

We have one year under Marrone and Hackett to go on now -   and they ran the ball more than most teams in the league, but still remained very balanced in their overall run/pass ratio. Blake averaged 32.2 attempts per game. There were 8 NFL teams that averaged below that mark. The SB champs only averaged 3.1 more pass attempts per game. So let's keep this run/pass ratio in proper perspective here.

They want to run the ball. Yes. It's part of the reason they felt comfortable retaining Bortles as they realize they can win with a premier defense + a good running game + a mid-tier QB. In a league that rarely has more than 4 or 5 "elite" QBs at one time, it's not a bad strategy.

OBJ likely doesn't figure into the Jags' plans for a half dozen different reasons. Hs skillset being wasted in this offense is not one of them. Most OCs would love to have a weapon like that to scheme into their playbook. Some of them wouldn't even think twice about dealing with the ridiculous immaturity that's likely to come with the talent.

The conservative nature of Marrone and his coordinators that you mention will be an interesting storyline to watch this season.
There were 3 or 4 games last year that resulted in many complaints from portions of the fanbase about "playing it too safe."   I'm hoping Coughlin is in their ears about staying aggressive in 2018.

Maybe top 5? He's absolutely top 5.

Brown
Jones
OBJ
AJ Green
Hopkins
Evans
Michael Thomas
Baldwin
Keenan Allen

That's my top 9.

The talent determines the approach (or how the team is run as you call it) towards the team. To claim the coaches won’t change their approach when presented with better talent because they are conservative is asinine.

Things like adding TEs and upgrading oline is something that should’ve been done all along regardless of run vs pass approach so that’s a moot point.
Would rather Gronk any day
Who doesn't want ABJ?...Ooohhh....OBJ.

My bad.
OBJ is the best WR in the league come on now. Take out the STATS... watch them... its between Brown and OBJ... and OBJ takes the edge for me. If it takes 2 1st's I'd do it, just because how Cris Carter explained it. Run first team would demand a safety in the box... meaning OBJ runs wild.... and we know he can make circus catches because Bortles throws ducks! RUN,RUN, OBJ! ...
Obj talent would be wasted as a Jaguar. Any elite wideout's talent would be a waste because blake is the qb and the jags run a elementary pass offense, with a philosophy of running the ball and playing good defense.

You guys are name drunk. Obj is not that good. Top 10 WR in the league, sure, but the gap between brown and Jones to obj and other guys on his tier is a decent gap.
OBJ is on pace to be the best WR since Randy Moss. What he's done through his 3 healthy seasons is WR Mt. Rushmore good. Obviously he'd need to keep up the pace, but he was WAY ahead of Brown and Julio through 3 seasons.
Gimme OBJ over every receiver bar Brown, and even then Odell is much younger so I'd rather him long term.
