With the No. 93 overall selection of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Jaguars select University of Alabama safety Ronnie Harrison

I wouldn't say they're putting Jars on Shelves.

Gene Smith put jars on shelves.  And they mostly remained on the shelf until Dave found our team tied and gagged in the basement, and started cleaning the shelves out.  By then everything was spoiled.

I like the Harrison pick--even if I want plenty of offense.  Can't go wrong with a guy who could have potentially went in the 1st in the late 3rd round.  I don't see it as a putting jars on shelf pick.  I see it as getting a talented player who'll probably see playing time this year pick.
This defense, goodness
Favourite pick so far. Church's replacement and could potentially okay some strong side LB if Wash is willing to be creative.
Harrison is another terrific pick. He was a low first round pick on a few boards. In the computer sims at First-pick.com, I kept seeing Harrison falling into the late second. I did a final draft for the Jaguars and Harrison was available into the third round, but NOT 3-29.

I guess he was just over-looked and/or ignored.

He is a solid football player and comes from essentially a NFL franchise in Alabama.
Better hitter and more athletic than Church. Church will probably start this year while Harrison learns and plays all special teams. Cut Church next offseason saving money to resign Ramsey/Jack/Ngakoue.
More swagger to the defense.

My favorite pick so far as well
Good depth pick. Good blitzer and disruptive when shooting the gaps. He has to develop some in the open field. Not the best open field tackler and loafs occasionally. Similar athletically to Barry Church, just a little smaller. Personality is a lot like Myles Jack. I wouldn't say he is a sure bet to supplant Barry Church, but he has a chance.

This draft is how you keep a window open...replace your holes before they open.

It's a new strategy to Jaguars fans but it's how good teams operate
This is actually, quietly, the best looking draft in recent memory. Harrison's going to take Church's job in 2019, Bryan will take Campbell's, Abry's or Malik's job in 2019/2020, and Chark is going to get a lot of opportunities to prove that the Jaguars don't need to bring Moncrief back for a second year.
Another pick that will control our Salary Cap in years to come.

NH3...
this is my favorite pick as well, think he starts after this season and we let church go

No 210 pound Safety is playing SAM LB... Sorry, but that's simply not going to happen. Not even a single snap.

He's a Safety through and through and I honestly don't know where, or why you even brought up him possibly playing some SAM LB... Literally zero chance that ever happens my dude.
Reminds me of Ryan Clark with the Steelers

This is where the creative part comes in. You play the Sam as a viper type of role. Covers the flats and plays close to the line of scrimmage. Funnels plays back inside and blitzs off the edge on occasion. You don't even have to line up that differently.

And no this wouldn't be a full time thing. Just certain packages you can play with that role. Makes us multi dimensional and gives the defense no easy target in the pass game. He played it a decent amount at Bama. Several other safeties have played a form of it in sub packages in the NFL too.

Open your mind a little Eric

My mind is opened up plenty..

If they wouldn't try that creative role with Myles Jack, who is more athletic and a better player than Harrison. Why do you think they'd create that kind of a role for a much smaller and less athletic player? They aren't changing this scheme now because they drafted Harrison. He's a Safety on this team, plain and simple dude.

Becuase Harrison's skillset is much more conducive to such a role than Jack. And Jack would be playing in the middle.

Yeah he's a safety , I'm just wondering about other packages you can play him. I'm not saying it's likely or expected to happen. Plain and simple.
Wow. I am stunned. I went to bed before we got to our 3rd round pick, and wake up and find out, we drafted Ronnie Harrison #93? I'm stunned.

Interesting that we have drafted 3 guys all from the SEC, too.

Not as much of enforcer as Church but a little better coverage from him. Wouldn’t be surprised if we grab one of his team mates like Anthony Averette or Tony Brown tomorrow to replace Colvin. I like the pick. This draft is showing we expect this defense to be dominate for a while.

I was noticing Anthony Averette out there. He's good size for a nickel at 5'11", and he's FAST.

As for Ronnie, he sounds like Cyp 2.0.  I'm not so sure he's just going to push Church off the roster.
