What happened to my post? Earlier I said we are not expecting too much of our young players because they were very good last season, especially on offense, and now everyone is a year older.

Quote:I'm not expecting anything. The Jaguars are the Jaguars. Not much else to be said. We run a bad system and aren't usually ready to play to win on Sundays. Any expectations set would just depress anyone foolish to raise them with this team.

So you are expecting Jacksonville to have a bad season. That is expecting something.

He said, and I quote, "Im not expecting anything." Right there. In his post.
Quote:Bortles first year- 3-13

Bortles 2nd year- 5-11

Bortles 3rd year- 2-3

Constant improvement. Fans who say Bortles digressed after 5 games are a joke. It's called a SEASON for a reason. Bortles numbers at the end of the year will be great and these clowns who in Bortles first year wanted Gabbert back will be proven wrong again

I digressed reading this comment.
Nope

That's what she said

Yea when I asked her if she wanted to stop
Quote:This is a young team with a lot of upside but are we the fans expecting too much from them, since this is a very inexperienced team still learning how to gel with one another. How much time does a young team need to mature?
The team is learning how to win close games, back to back wins in close games, last year was the same, we had a lot of close one score games and couldnt win them, with a better defense it helps a lot, now we need the running game going.

It looks like we are growing and lets keep it up

Quote:Blake only started 12 games his rookie season.

People say he regressed (digressed is not a word) because they are getting picky about things that are not his fault.

Sorry, I digress, but It is a word. Look it up.

As is the case after reading any of his comments. Look there is a different between being a message board fan and someone paid to be here and we all know who that is.

He's definitely regressed, all you need to do is look at his throwing motion to tell that which we all know by now. He thinks he's in the MLB Playoffs pitching for the Cubs/Indians or something, I don't know... but you don't just magically learn throwing motion from one week to the next.
Gus here, expectation = 5 wins.

You're a [BLEEP] idiot, but I digress, Gus sucks and this team is handicappedyby his presence.
This is a talented team. But they are young. And also need to start and keep on winning more and more.

Quote:I would say yes, except that the part of our team that is new/inexperienced is the part of our team that is playing the best. The defense Has 7 rookies/FA playing major snaps and they are the side that looks good.

Our supposedly already explosive offense is only really working in two new players and they have regressed massively. Oh yeah and those two new players, Beachum and Omameh, are both playing very solidly.
Being new to the team isn't the same thing as being young.

Veteran players can make an immediate impact.

The veteran players making an immediate impact have been with us since March. Rookies have to wait until May to get started. No matter how old the players are they have to gel and that takes all of spring and most of summer. I think it is time to recalculate the team's average ages on offense, special teams, and defense because of all the UFA additions, draft picks, and preseason cuts.
Quote:I think expectations are fair. Last year, offense seemed like it had arrived and we were waiting on defense. This year the defense has shown up but the offense is inconsistent. The really good teams we face later don't have elite qbs. We play smart, I think we can win a couple of games we weren't supposed to win. Defense would need to go up another level and the running game would need to surface.
I think this is on point
Enough excuses.

I expect them to win.

Are they talented?  I think the offensive line is serviceable but not talented.  If we are referring to the skill positions, I think potential is there but not really talent.

All last year I repeated 5 year plan, and yeah expectations are where they should be but next year is more likely to have the "break out".  My number one concern remains the coaching staff.  I really believe they are a stubborn lot that won't adjust to the potential.

I don't expect perfection.

But I don't expect 100+ yards of penalties in a single game.

I don't expect the third year QB's mechanics to regress to a place that's possibly worse than his rookie year.

I don't expect that a TD on a blown coverage in the secondary is just  "the norm" every week.

I don't expect to see opposing QBs and coordinators find a play that works well and exploit it over and over again without adjustment.

A couple of these got better against the bears. I hope that's progress and not just "the bears."

It's been 4 years since Gus and Dave have taken over.

This is not the season to be patient. We should be expecting this team to win.
