Really looking forward to that Bye week to rest these guys
So who's still happy the Jags essentially flushed a top five pick on a running back with injury history?

I didn’t like RB at four, but it’s year two of his rookie deal. He has time to earn his keep yet.
If he’s back for the Steelers game and runs well, much will be forgiven.

The people who aren't stupid like Tom Coughlin and Dave Caldwell.

I know a lot of people were convinced last season he was the reason the team was good, but the results really seem to indicate he's a non factor so far, and it's actually been about the rest of the team's (especially the defense's) improvement. Plus if Mahomes continues to be as good as he's been so far he'll the next guy in a long list of great QBs that the Jaguars passed on for a non factor player. Essentially unless Mahomes falls on his face the fournette pick has become unforgivable. And, yeah, I know that here in the board we didn't know he'd be the next Aaron Rodgers, but none of us are getting paid millions of dollars a year to figure that out, either. I think NFL GM's should be held to a higher standard than "a bunch of amateurs that don't get to study players as their job didn't realize it either."

Initially I interpreted this as "The people who aren't stupid, like Tom Coughlin and Dave Caldwell" as in they aren't stupid. But then my brain interpreted the opposite, that you meant that Coughlin and Caldwell are stupid. So now I'm curious, which did you mean?

So you're saying you think if you hooked those guys up to a polygraph and asked if they would still take fournette now instead of Mahomes they'd say yes and the machine would back them up? Yeah, they were stupid with the pick at the time, but I don't doubt for a second that they haven't already realized it.
I would take Mahomes in an instant over Fournette.

I wasn't happy with the Fournette pick either. Good RBs can be found in the later rounds. But:

1. Fred Taylor missed most of his second season with a hamstring injury. It's not a career ender, so don't write off Fournette yet.
2. Do you really think Mahomes would be the same star QB under the Jags coaching instead of Andy Reid?

They've made Bortles look like he's not a disaster. Maybe Mahomes has ten TDs and two or three picks for us instead of 13-0, but to imply the coaching staff here hasn't shown real positive things is wrong. Mahomes would be good here, too. And I mean actually good, not the 2015 Bortles kind of good that Watson is.
Lol the Interwebs is so funny.

Fournette has a good game and people are like "OMG! He iz amazing, I'm so glad we picked him!! I knew he was the right pick!!!111!!"

He misses some time due to injury and people are like "He wasn't the right pick!! I never wanted him, he is a bust! We should trade him!11!!!"
Hindsight..... fournette will be fine. Mahomes is playing his first year. Remember Dak's and now Jimmy G's? Time will only tell.

Why not? We have a better WR core than KC, so he would have more tools here. Mahomes is hugely talented. Andy Reid skillfully utilizes him, but Reid didn't construct Mahomes.

Mahomes would have paid higher dividends over a longer period of time than Fournette ever can. Even a healthy Fournette.

Another thing worth remembering is that with a QB on a rookie deal we could easily have kept Arob and keeping the defense together would be easier for longer.
If we weren’t going to take a QB (which we weren’t) who exactly are we crying ourselves to sleep over not selecting?

Jamal Adams. Or trade down and take Cam Robinson in the 1st and someone else (Dalvin Cook?) in the 2nd. And we'd also have the picks acquired in the exchange of 1sts.
Of course with 20/20 hindsight, I'd take Mahomes in the 1st, Robinson in the 2nd, and Kareem Hunt in the 3rd.
