can you blame any fans who doubt or are mad?  we have endured one of the worst 10 year stretches in NFL history... until winning actually happens, people and fans are allowed to feel/say whatever they want

absolutely, I never said they couldn't, but like them I'm allowed to say/feel whatever/however about the negative opinions they post.

That's what I'm saying. I was on board with Shack and Del Rio, I was on board with Gene Smith, I was on board with Gabbert, I was on board with Gus, I was on board with Bortles. Do you see a trend? I been loyal since the team came here and I've been through the last 10 years of being in the abyss of terribleness. To make matters worse, in those ten years we have literally gotten worse year to year and can't seem to draft a star player. I can't understand how people don't see why some people just want to wait and see or are pessimistic.

I've learned I can't just blindly follow whatever it is. I did that and I'm not doing that anymore. I call what I see. And the franchise has to prove to me it can actually put a winner on the feild. Until then I will not be wearing any teal colored glass for the foreseeable future.

same here
He's no Deji Karim but he'll do.
Quote:You guys have no idea.

i think most people agreed with you.

does this mean that you have no idea as well?
We ended up with an elite prospect.  I am completely fine with this pick.

Was hoping for Thomas or Adams, and I don't like picking RBs this early.  However if you are going to pull the trigger on one, Fournette is the type to get.

Excited to see some rushing TDs again.

Quote:I've never seen so much hate for a guy that is an A+ football player.
me either but half these people wanted Cook at 4, who is still not drafted lol
well he's going to make #27 special for Jags. No disrespect towards Rashean
Wait

And

See
Quote:The line will be good. You got Marrone and Flaherty coaching. Coughlin ensuring that the line gets the reps needed to get stronger blocking against the run.

If only Marrone was around last season to coach the offensive line.....
Quote:. It's kind of sad isn't it. Even if people don't agree with the pick, they could at least be a little bit excited during the off-season I mean it's not like we're losing games yet LOL. But there's always hate constantly built Up in this Fanbase. Sometimes I can't tell if it's people trying to call things before they happen so they can play the " I told you so " card if they are right, or if people are just trolling, but it is a little bit lame.

I agree. Some of us don't even realize that this is a major reason why other fanbases laugh at us - we are literally waiting for a player to fail by the minute.

This is essentially my view on the pick as well.

I'd have taken a back later, but I'm hopeful that Fournette will make an impact in a run game that has struggled for far too long.

Expecting failure is a defeatist attitude.

It's entirely rational to be excited about the fact we got such a highly regarded, elite prospect.

It is also not mutually exclusive to realize that every prospect, elite or not, must produce on the field post-selection.  You can both be excited about the pick and not be predictive of the future (good or bad.)

But to expect failure, fear success, fear lack of success, or otherwise be hesitant about something you can't control and/or has or has not yet happened is being wounded and burdened by the past and projecting that fear in to the future.

Dude... go ask the Bills about that. They don't act anywhere near as negative as we do and their playoff drought has gone on far longer. Up until this past year, the Raiders had a longer drought, but they kept supporting their players.

My point is that if we want respect from around the league, we need to stop expecting the worst from players that come here before they have a chance to even show flashes of their talent.
It's probably worth asking ourselves... does the front office (that does not include Shack or Gene, but instead has Tom Coughlin back to oversee the club's work) share your doubts in Fournette?

If they did share these doubts and those concerns were valid, don't you think Coughlin would step in and override where he thought we were headed for the ditch with this pick?

It just might be that... the club actually believes in Fournette and feel that he puts the team in a good position to win.  Maybe?

Remember... this was a very fast pick.  The card was turned in faster than any of the night at that point.  This was decisive and unwavering.

Huh? The raiders actually had less game attendance than the Jags and then Oakland lost their team to another city.

That's not "support."

I didn't think we would draft a RB at 4, but then we did.

I didn't know much about him, but what I have seen so far, I like.  Smile

Quote:Agreed. Taking a running back high in the NFL draft can be risky and I think people are seeing Fred Taylor but Fred was a lot more explosive. We'll see, hopefully we can get him some help by going OL in the next couple of rounds.

He is not like Fred at all besides height and speed. Fred could cut on a dime and had awesome feet, and great vision. 4net is probably better as a straight downhill runner than Fred, but thats it. 4net is a super fast power back. Fred cut more like Cook does (but he was stronger). Just not a good comp at all.
Quote:RB on the roster

Leonard Fournette

Corey Grant

Bronson Hill

Chris Ivory

Daryl Richardson

TJ Yeldon

And FB

Tommy Bohanon

If they keep the FB Bohanon do they keep only 3 RB or still keep 4.
4, I think Coughlin wants power running to be an idenity for us.
