Otherwise, he's a tad better then Chad Henne.

He's infinitely better than Chad Henne. Of course division by zero isn't allowed.

I realize that the TB receivers are much better (although that hasn't made Winston into a star). The other QBs named, Cousins and Smith, also have better receivers than the Jags . Besides playing well with the Bucs, Fitzpatrick had solid seasons with Houston and the Jets, and in his one bad season with the Jets he missed all of training camp. I wouldn't expect him to put up the numbers he has with the Bucs this year if he were on the Jags, but with the Jags he wouldn't have to.

So what do you think happens to Fitz after this year?

If he has permanently supplanted Winston, then presumably Winston is gone after this year.

Tampa, theoretically would need to keep Fitz at least another year.
Alex Smith made a lot of sense for this franchise. I don't know what in the heck they were thinking.

Agreed
Hindsight being what it is, you have to remember back to Blake's playoff performance in Pittsburgh and the 1st half of the Pats game. He also did put the team on his back in Buffalo to edge out a win in a game no one could really move the ball in. He had seemed to have turned a corner, but my main concerns with him is that awful motion and the inability to make the most routine throws in a game, he has nearly the worst completion % among starting QBs and leads the league in turnovers. Not a great 1-2 combo there.

Cousins would be an improvement in our system, but how much is the real question. We are still completely decimated at LT.

As of a week or two ago Cousins was 2nd in passer rating while being pressured, while also being pressured the 2nd most. The Vikes oline is every bit as bad as ours, and he's still excelling.

I backspaced it but I still laugh every time this revisionist history Blake putting the team on the back against Buffalo comes up. He was awful that game, we would have lost to damn near any other team.
If you wanna pay money for Alex Smith you may as well pay for Cousins.

Who were the folks on here that didn't how the cap worked and were crying about losing players?

This.

I was at that game. It felt like any other team who could just get it together for one scoring drive would have had us in that game. Our defense played lights out
Cousins would be on IR after playing behind our depleted line and WRs we have starting.

It sure does.  It seems like a different season and a different team.  What is the over/under on the team Quadrupling down on Bortles and believing he isn't a problem and it was all injury problems.
I think Smith is 100x better than Cousins AND he was way cheaper.
Ouch Cousins just had a Pick 6.........Doesn't look that good tonight....

Good job watching one play. He definitely goofed bad there, but before that he was playing very well. 18/24 215 and a TD before that...definitely not good...

And even with that goof, it would have been excused as Diggs fault if they were wearing Jags jerseys.

That doesn't matter when it's Bortles.
I have been watching the whole game.....He nearly had a fumble after a sack as well on a prior play....

I guess it's that old man memory then, cause if you really had been watching the whole game you wouldn't have said that.

Never matters when it is Bortles......

And the WRs on the Vikings are leaps and bounds better than the Jags...

Oh look another sack......

Just as you posted....look another sack.

Don't be upset, since Cousins is struggling...

It is nothing personal.. lol

That's a good question.

If things keep going the way they have been, I suspect that the Bucs will try to keep him and dump Winston. I don't know his contract situation, but my guess is he's just signed for this year.

If he hits the free agent market after this season, the price will be a lot higher than what the Jags (or any team) needed to sign him after last season. He's still got a few good years left, maybe even playing into his 40s.

That was my opinion in January. But Smith isn't doing nearly as well in DC. I think Andy Reid had a lot to do with his success in KC.

Cousins in Minn appears to be the same as Cousins in DC.

Dude, Cousins is making $20 million more over the next three years than Alex Smith is. That's a pretty big gap in pay for a somewhat less gap in performance.
How many more wins does cousins have? And how much more star power do they have?
