You could say that about just about any traditional defense, like the 4-3 since it's been around since the 50s.  In any case, since several teams use the 3-4 with great success it's perfectly workable in modern football.

Yeah that's what I said, it's fine if you have the pieces (like most defensive schemes) , it's just odd to call a 3-4 the "modern way to play defense", especially when the shift over the last 10 years is based around nickel and 4-2-5s. 

Aside from that, I would enjoy seeing the jags in a 3-4 purely to see how it plays out. Blitz heavy defense are fun and with the talent we have on the back end you could get really creative.
