We could have ran screens with Bortles as well if the play was actually called. It was called yesterday and was almost a TD, except for Cole's hold penalty.

hehe
Bortles has awful pocket awareness and didnt seem to elude the pressure very well the past few games....

Yes, but he has been tutored in the all-important clipboard holding duties by one of the best ever.
so who do we call for next at qb if kessler doesn't magically improve?

Bortles...
Kapernick?
Tebow...
The pickins get real slim real fast.
Maybe we can talk Tony Romo out of the booth to break his clavicle again behind our terrible line.

No one. Kessler's it. Plan B from here on out would be going back to Bortles, but I think his contract is guaranteed for injury. If they've decided they don't want to pay him a ton of money for a lucky tear, Kessler will be the guy the rest of the way, no questions asked.
I by no means believe that Kessler is an instant savior but noone can make believe that he will be worse. Blake's delivery and inaccuracy only compounded the oline problems. Kessler will get the ball out faster and be able to hit simple dump offs. His balls will spin the right way making catching them easier. Yes he will take some sacks and throw some picks but he won't cause them to completely abandon the passing game. I don't feel bad for Hackett. If u run 18 straight run plays, u deserve to be fired. I don't care how bad your QB or line is, u can't simply quit. Get creative. The only reason to have a problem with the decision is if u believe Doug forced Blake on the OC. I do not. I believe or GM and OC convinced Doug to stick with Blake. The old "another year in my system" theory we heard all offseason. I think today TC and Khan finally said ok Doug let's do it your way. We may never know. I do know however that I am not ready to run another HC out of town after he dang near got us to the Superbowl.

Whether the Khans and Tom Coughlin will insist that Marrone returns seems like the more difficult part of the overall outcome to gauge.
But.... but..... now we will be a 5 or 6 win team instead of a 3 win team and pick a 10 or 11 instead of 2 or 3

.... Herbert...Grier...Haskins come back!!

Mark my words: Kessler is going to be an improvement. I'm not a Blake hater. I really wanted Blake to succeed, but, like others have mentioned, I feel he was broken by poor coaching. Blake always should have been a gunslinging footballer. He's not a game-managing quarterback. Constantly being told to change your stripes has to take its toll mentally, especially when you're not doing it well. Kessler is, by nature, a game managing decision maker. He will make faster reads, throw a nicer spiral, and take less risks. He obviously does not have Blake's potential ability, but he is exactly what the coaches were asking of Blake. They might have to restrict the playbook, but I think Kessler will ultimately make everyone's job easier, from the defense to the o-line, to the receivers and RBs.
Let's face it, Blake has looked terrible out there. He's trying too hard not to make mistakes. He can't throw spirals because he's gripping the ball too tight (probably worried about fumbles), he is letting the plays fully develop instead of anticipating breaks (probably fear of getting picked), and, lately, he's been feeling phantom pressure (probably because he's getting a lot of pressure on other plays). These are the marks of a broken QB. He needs a break. He will make a great back up QB somewhere. He just has not been properly used here, imo.

It saddens me that we have to say this about literally every first-round QB drafted by the Jaguars.
While BB is more mobile and susceptible to hits, I felt his throwing motion took too long when our Oline has been a turnstile. I think a quick release will help get some of the short throws to some WRs actually completed.

Coughlin has to go too. Not many GMs are going to want to come here with someone above them to approve a decision or to feel influence from. We need one competent GM, not an incompetent GM with someone to hold their hand who so far has made terrible decision.

If you believe the new found run game rested solely on the shoulders of Norwell, then okay. But it didn't, so.....
Can you show me where I said that? It's a team effort up front, but thinking the loss of norwell will have little or no effect on the line is probably more ridiculous considering the state of the o line at the moment. I expect a noticeable dropoff in the last 5 games, in run and pass pro. Every front we face is above average to good. Tennessee and Houston will be especially brutal for our o line and QB.
marrone and coughlin are going no where
caldwell on the other hand has missed a lot. caldwell was definitely tied to bortles. he needed him to succeed. i think this is where tom and doug take over
the play calling hasn’t changed. regardless of how bad bortles is you’re all forgetting he’s the most predictable play caller in the league. either running 15 times or passing. sapp broke down the stats. it’s like every coordinater knew what was coming based off formations and what happened on the first play
i see mcadoo being OC

Unless Tom Coughlin decides to retire voluntarily , I would be very surprised if Shad Khan decides to move on from Coughlin. Especially, after the turnaround in the 2017 season. Your concern though is valid.

Heya D6 long time no read your posts. As a long time Lions fan does it feel like deja vu south? This feels very lion like this year.

Your first two sentences were "Norwell is on IR." and "New found run game will be on hold for 2018". Did you mean something entirely else, then? Were those two disconnected thoughts?

I agree fully. I see it as such a complication moving forward. It's the reason this whole two GM thing just doesn't work.
we don’t have two gms
this forum is funny ? ?♂️
coughlin oversees everything
caldwell is gm
caldwell will be fired
our new gms boss is coughlin so i don’t think there will be a problem about being GM because once again coughlin is not our gm
bryan had caldwell all over it. he’s replacing our aging d line already
coughlin don’t do anything besides set the clocks back ??

I feel this way as well, I kinda think Hackett was sick of having Blake as his QB, telling by his post mortem interview discussing being summoned to talk QB change. I don't pretend to know who pushed Blake or not, or if there was any of that going on. Maybe all the runs were him doing a silent protest, idk...
All I know is, this staff was 1/2 a quarter away last year, and if they didn't go soft in the 4th, and the refs let that fumble play out, we are probably going to face Philly instead of NE. Injuries and other things like the defense having all these lapses, O line injuries (seriously WHAT THE HECK lol), and the massive losing streak have made this season feel so long and miserable... 2017 feels like a pipe dream at this point going forward. I'm not ready to clean house, yet. I think this bunch gets 2019 to rebound, otherwise, I think everyone goes outside of TC..
