With our O-line and Kessler's inability to escape pressure and small stature BB5 will be back in by the end of the first half.

With what I saw Kessler do in Cleveland (2/3 completion %, 3/1 TD/Int Ratio) i've got faith he can be a highly competent back up behind a decent line. I'd like to get him some game time. With that being said, I also want to see some progression out of Chark, Cole, Moncrief, ASJ, and every other receiver under the sun with DECENTLY thrown balls. Heck, Moncrief is playing for a big deal after this season, you KNOW he wants to put together a good 5 game stretch to show he's worth it. Cole is an UDFA that wants make some scratch. These guys got FIVE games to audition to show that it's not them that sucks, it was the guy throwing the ball. I think they're eager to show they can play. I dunno...maybe i'm an eternal optimist.

you forgot 4 sacks and 1 fumble. he is only like 6ft 215 lbs if he gets hit as often as blake did he wont make it to halftime. he can make decisions fast and throw but will they be fast enough?

Kessler took a beating in preseason and kept getting back up. The way the line has been pass blocking, I fear for his safety though.
And I kinda feel bad for Hackett... I'm sure he's wishing he had the opportunity to see if he could run the offense more smoothly without Bortles.

He stood up pretty well against Clowney, Watt and Mercilus. Got hit and got right back up.
Kessler actually allows you to open up the playbook more. He can throw WR screens which Blake can’t throw, he can hit the 15 yard dig routes as well as throw timely on curl routes. Not having Fournette will hurt him a lot and the odds are certainly against him this week but I think he’ll play well.

If Kessler plays well, are you going to give all the credit to Milanovich? Sure sounds like you are.

Every mobile QB this team has ever played, in what seems like the entire jaguars existence, has destroyed us. Maybe run the QB a bit.

Season is over so it’s time to see if Kessler can give a spark and if he does, it’ll be fairly clear that playing Blake after the Houston game was the wrong choice. If Kessler plays bad, then season is still over and we move on to the draft.

even though i think its a mistake i think they are moving on from blake. that being said i think the reason for starting kessler is two fold. one get more fans to show up. two do not get blake hurt. they save 5 mill by releasing him june 1st. if he goes out there behind this line and tears his acl i dont think they can release him then.

I have to disagree here. The decision to bench Bortles and start Kessler is Maronne's and has to do with trying to win football games. Head coaches do not make decisions based on fan attendance or potential personnel moves. That's not their job. Their job is to try to win games given the "tools" (players) that they have.

Since when has Marrone tried to win games? All I've seen him do is try not to lose games. That's about it. That's his base instinct in every situation and it's disgusting. He needs to never be a HC anywhere ever again.

I've been stupid busy and traveling for two weeks so I haven't been able to comment on the state of the offense, but I'm glad they've moved on from Hackett and Bortles.
I tried to believe in the good things Hackett had done and had hope he'd learn from the 2017 tape what wouldn't work for this offense.
It didn't happen.
It looked like the Fournette/Grant backfield coupled with play-action deep shots plan might come around and be productive before the injury bug, but everything fell into this inability to convert while daring defenses to load up against the most obvious run calls I've ever seen. Throw in the onslaught of Bortles accuracy fails, and something had to give.
The O-Line will make it tough to win, but a less predictable run game and a more accurate passer will be more fun to watch from here on out at least.

This might be the most ridiculous thing you have ever said. NOW you want to say yes fire Hackett... BENCH... BORTLES... dude I knew you were a Marrone die hard but not this hard.... you going all out!!! If there ever was a Marrone SOS message in the sky..... its now lol... a couple wins saves his job.... such a joke lol. HE IS BAD.... MOVE ON!

I can't help thinking about the Houston game when Bortles was benched. The offense seemed out of sorts and couldn't move the ball but when Kessler came in the offense seemed to gain momentum. Maybe that's natural when a new QB goes in and he did throw the interception but I recall it hitting the receiver in the hands first. He was also sacked 4 or 5 times but seemed to bounce back ok. I'll be interested to see how he does with a full week of practice as the starter.
