The Giants have 5 wins and are right behind us in drafting order. They’ll also be shopping for a QB. They have 3 tough games left and will probably finish 5-11. We stand a decent chance of beating the Redskins which would give us 5 wins also. We probably lose our last two, unless the Texans sit their starters. I’d like a win, but won’t be upset if we lose the last 3.
If we were to knock out Texans out of playoffs with a win I'd be all for it but otherwise there is no point in winning. We have to stay ahead of Giants which are game up and Buccs. Also this week is critical game because Skins will be going after QB and we don't want them ahead of us.
I want to win every week. I'm OK with losing more on a lost season but I never want to lose

I'd be surprised if we do much winning the rest of the year regardless, and I think the team might be taking care of the tanking whether the coaches want them to or not.
Huh? Of course we still have our first round pick.
I'm referring to trading next year's first to move up for a QB this year (this year being the 2019 draft)

I really don't think we'll need to do that.
We're gonna maybe win the 'skins game.
but that's it.
The Giants really could win the clot and/or cowgirl game.

check out our draft results here (They have Herbert declaring and us selecting him at 7)

With that said, there is a better chance of me sticking to my New Years Resolution past January than that happening.
That would be even worse than the current situation where Marrone seems to be pretending that Kessler is somehow better than Bortles. Clearly, he's not.

I kind of get the feeling that there are 2 reasons why Coach Marrone is keeping Bortles on the bench.
1. Production from the position is pretty much the same between Bortles and Kessler. Although I think Bortles is the best option, I kind of think the decision has to do with my point #2.
2. IIRC there is some kind of injury clause in Bortles' contract. I could be wrong about that, but it's possible that they are sitting him for the rest of the season to protect him from injury so that they can drop/trade him away and save some money.
Either way, to stay on-topic, I want to see the team win out no matter what. It doesn't really matter to me at this point how division rivals end up finishing. If by some miracle the Titans win the division well... they would have
earned it. At this point this season the Texans have
earned their position. The Jaguars need to
earn the best record that they can. Draft position means nothing except to Madden-playing "fans".
Like it or not, that's just the way it is. It's why I watch football every Sunday during the NFL season and why I always enjoy watching the playoffs and the rest of the post-season. I just like watching the best players in the world playing the game.

I believe the implication is that we package 2019 and 2020 first rounders to fly up 3 spots to take an overvalued QB prospect.
To the OP, Ws and Ls don't matter much at this point, as long as the team is competitive and we are able to identify the talent that remains on the roster. I don't want us to get blown out like we did against your stinking tacks, that's all.

Even if it meant the tacks winning the division? I expected most jags fans to rather lose to the texans than to knock em out and helping the tacks..
I'm not sure the tacks beat the giants this wk but if they do.. i can definitely see the texans losing in philly. Could be interesting

You make the mistake of thinking the thumbtacks divisional outcome is interesting to anyone but you here.
So what if they squeak into the playoffs?
They'll be trounced quickly.
Also - careful with the trolling. It's not hillbilly week around here anymore. We're on to redskins and draft talk. Not the thumbtacks.
I want the Jags to win every game they play. I don't care how meaningless the game is, I want to see a W. I think we won't win any of the rest of our games though, simply due to injuries and the level of talent we are playing against. We are also terrible at QB regardless of who is starting, so there's that.

Yes.
You're on a Jaguars board in the Jaguars forum polling Jags fans about which crappy losing outcome they'd prefer.
I nearly deleted this stupid thread when you posted it since the topic had already been discussed ad nauseum in 7 other threads and you're clearly just goading here.

Because clearly i start threads all the time to goad...
I was asking if the titan hatred of jags fans was strong enough to want to lose if winning benefitted the titans. I posted it in the jaguars forum because it's a jaguars game we're talking about, and i didnt want to be considered trolling, or
goading..
Sorry if my presence here hurts anyones feelings. I wasnt here to boast or troll or

Please, by all means, delete the thread. Delete me if you need to feel better. Good luck next year
Win, because I'm a winner and winners like winning.
BTW, Houston's probably winning this division, so I wouldn't tack my hopes up quite yet.
....and what the heck's going on with the sudden Indy resurgence?

Sorry your feelings are hurt. If you can't see how speculating about how bad it bothers Jags fans to lose to a division rival only to affect another division rival's playoff hopes could be perceived as trolling - I can't feel bad about it. It just comes off as some petty trolling to me. You oughta' be able to get that.
The whole thing is pretty borderline - which is why the thread stands and I gave you a friendly warning instead of the formal variety.
Your posting is normally fine - but when it's not thumbtack week around here and you just want to pour salt on wounds - you shouldn't expect open arms.

That's a tough one! There's no one I'd rather see lose the division than the stinkin' Tacks. :-)
But I never root to lose. Never. I never want to lose any game.

Only reason "my feelings are hurt" is because i wasnt trying to pour salt on anyone..
I can see your point about division rivals and the jags disappointing season weighing on your views of rival fans. If you look at my posts i think you'll see that i've taken that into consideration these past weeks.
And yes, it isnt tack week. But tack week isnt the only time i've been here. Sorry if i stepped on your paws by posting in the jaguars forum. Wont happen again

Thanks for seeing the question for what it was.
If they don’t care then I don’t care.
After that pathetic display they put on Thursday night I couldn’t care less anymore.
Letting a guy who’s season high coming in was 54 yrds rushing go for almost 250? What a damn joke.
I’m starting to feel like randy quaid in major league 2.
Always win. That's why you play the game. Don't lose to draft the next Blake Bortles. I know, you want to draft the next Patrick Mahomes but since no one can predict the future, it typically doesn't work out that way. Play to win and let the rest sort itself out.
