Quote:This is interesting. LSU insisted on playing at home instead of traveling to Gainesville. To make it possible, the SEC had both schools cancel their games that were supposed to be played on November 19.

This is completely mind boggling in itself because Gators now lose two home games instead of just one.
It was a sold out game and it should remain in the Swamp with all of the ticket holders having the chance of either keeping their ticket or getting a refund.
Complete bs to have it moved to LSU unless our next two games against them will be in Gainesville.
According to the article, the next two games will be in Gainesville. I agree it is stupid that LSU insisted on playing at home.
LSU's road schedule next season is insane
I posted something similar in the Florida thread before I saw this one. They lose two home games this year, but will make that money for the school on the insurance payments. The season ticket holders are stuck footing the bill with their "donations" to get season tickets every year.
A really bad home schedule just got really really really bad after the loss of LSU on it. The school should be embarrassed after what it has done to it's fans this year.
Ok... I'm a little confused as to how a team can insist on it being on their home field, where this was set up as a road game for LSU?
It's not like the Gators purposed postponed this game...
Quote:edit- nevermind.
Yeah I meant to edit my post too.

In order for either team to qualify for the SEC championship the game HAD to be played.
LSU was not being a fair negotiating partner it seems (per AD from FL) so play it when/where they want or don't play it were the offers I imagine.
LSU has to give up the home game from next season, so Florida gets that I suppose.
-shrugs- I'm glad they are playing the game. I think it's stupid that the game is being moved to Baton Rouge.
I don't think any of it really matters in the long run... I don't see Bama giving up the SEC this season.

It's not like the Gators purposely postponed this game...
UF was the school that asked for postponement. That still does not explain why LSU demanded a move to playing it at home.

Just seems a bit strange..

Yeah I understand they postponed it, but it's ridiculous because it was out of their hands really... they HAD to postpone it for safety reasons!

The irony is Matthew went back to sea after they postponed the game. The worst that could have happened was both kickers miss short field goal attempts - seriously. What's strange is they canceled a game that could have been played.

I get that... I totally agree with the postponement though.. you just never know..

Because you don't know what a storm is going to do before it does it. It's easy to say what the should have done after the fact. Predicting a hurricanes path is not an exact science.

Yep, it is very easy to see what someone should have done after the fact. It is a shame because now the game is at LSU instead of here, plus their best player (Leonard Fournette) will be available. The one good thing was it gave LDR more time to heal after struggling through practice.

Nothing stupid about it. According to the SEC, the only thing clear was that LSU wanted to play the game on the weekend as originally planned. LSU contacted SEC offices with a bevy of options to play the game on the scheduled weekend. Options included playing in Gainesville Sunday or Monday, moving the game to Tampa or Tallahassee, or playing in Baton Rouge or New Orleans with no fans present (like what occurred when they hosted South Carolina). Both LSU and the SEC seemed to question why Florida wasn't moving with more urgency. Were they wanting to play the game or were they using the weather as a cover to become more healthy. The SEC has come out and said their position, as well as LSU's, was to play the game that weekend.
As the storm approached, the SEC and both athletic directors agreed to play the game Saturday at 4 instead of noon. That was the Gators ONLY option the Gators presented. Long story short, Gainesville then became in the hurricane path model and the game was cancelled.
Florida, on Thursday, cancelled the game and any chances to play the game in Gainesville or any other location Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Even Georgia and South Carolina agreed to play their game Sunday evening. Florida would not make such an agreement.
So yeah nothing stupid about it. It was pretty clear from the beginning. Why would LSU give up a home game when they gave Florida every chance imaginable to play the game the weekend it was scheduled?

Florida is actually kind of in a win win with this the more I thought about it.
They finish out the season in Baton Rouge then Tallahassee on the road. I'm sure nobody expects them to win either one, but their schedule leading up to those two games (including UGA) is pretty soft, so being as that they're #15 now if they could manage to win out they'd battle Bama for the title and prob have somewhat of a chance to make it into the playoffs.
That's all crazy talk, but the more important thing is that they get LSU at home the next two years when they are probably hoping to be more of a contender. Win win.
UF won't be good next year,2 years? Yes
Quote:UF won't be good next year,2 years? Yes
Yeah I wonder that myself, 2 years still fits in the LSU at home timeline, although next year would have been at LSU so I guess point irrelevant.
Hostile, did you not understand what I was calling stupid? I am mad at LSU for demanding a game scheduled to be played on the road must switch to being played at home. The South Carolina game was played in Baton Rouge because the Gamecocks did not want to cancel it. Big difference. Because the Gators decided to play on a different weekend, it would have been possible to keep the game in Gainesville.
