The concepts Todd Wash brought over from Seattle are inherent in the scheme and have always been part of the playbook. When it became apparent that finding a guy like Josh Allen was no easy task, we acquired Campbell to take care of the strongside pass rush and went with the more traditional 4-3 and nickel packages. Now that Josh Allen is on board, I suspect he'll take over the SAM spot allowing Wash to field the kind of defense he's long wanted to with unrelenting pressure on QBs.

When you look at that diagram, keep in mind that the Seattle scheme is at its heart a 3-4 disguised as a 4-3.

I'm picturing Campbell possibly moving inside to the 3-tech with Tavon moving outside as more of a run stuffing DE much like a 3-4 DE. In other words,

RDE Ngakoue
DT Campbell
NT Dareus
LDE Bryan

WILL Smith
MLB Jack
SAM Allen

With Yannick coming out wide on the right side, Campbell busting through inside, and Allen blitzing outside... this year's Sacksonville squad just might set a team record. Moreover, out of this 4-3 lookthey can really do anything so teams will be kept guessing.

I could see that, but I think we're also going to see a very heavy rotation this year. The only guy that I can tell you with any certainty will be in the same spot on every down is Marcell Dareus. I envision a rotation along the DL something like this:

RE: Ngakoue, Allen
DT: Bryan, A. Jones, Campbell
NT: Dareus
LE: Campbell, Allen, Bryan

That's not even factoring in depth players like McCray and Smoot (yup, went there) if they can bring some heat as relief options.

They already tried to play Bryan at DE in the 5T... It failed and that's why they put him back inside at 3T for the final few games. He isn't going to be playing DE again in this scheme, and if he does, it wont be for very many snaps. He's going to be the main 3T DT from here on out.

Base Defense will absolutely have Ngakoue at Weakside DE and Campbell at Strongside DE. The inside is where you could see some different things happening. It'll either be Bryan at 3T to start in Base, with Dareus at NT, or it'll be Dareus at 3T and Abry at NT. We'll have to wait and see. Most likely Bryan and Dareus though.

Obvious passing situations will be Ngakoue/Allen at DE with Campbell and Bryan inside. Playing Bryan at DE again is going to waste his talents as a true 3T DT.

Allen could see some SLB work in Base Defense, I don't think anybody would have a problem with that due to his talents, but we only play base (4-3) like 30% of the time and that isn't going to change. Our 4-2-5 is going to be the main stay on Defense again. He'll have his hand in the dirt for the majority of the time when he's in the game. Allen will play on obvious pass rushing situations for sure and he'll rotate in with Ngakoue and Campbell at DE to help keep them fresh.

Dareus will play NT and 3T. They already said they're going to use Dareus more as a pass rusher this season (we'll they said they want to).

Abry Jones is a true NT and that's where he'll stay and be in the same spot every time he's on the field.
