He was introduced to the NFL last night hahah his helmet needs more work.  But I agree, I want to see him behind a functional online.  I turned it off early.  Did the seattle QB show anything good?
It was a complete turd fest. 0 positives to say. This team needs a lot of work.

a raw rookie got thrown into the fire for the first time ever on the road. Yeah some of his throws didn’t have zip, couple of them did. I remember players talking about how strength continues to develope first couple of year either from professional weight room regimen, to working on mechanics(especially lower body) and the fact they are young and still growing. Dude seems smart and has some dog in him. I won’t jump off a building just yet. Raw receivers, bad line, tough blitzing d.. not looking for excuses but you can’t ignore the fact that there was nothing in his favor. Even backups on the other team tend to have years of experience in the league while he had 0. Only thing to legit think about is the lack of arm strength on some of the throws. But QBs can have success in a good system if they are smart and have good timing. This is all new to him and playing while having to think about everything instead of reacting makes a world of difference. Give the kid some time to learn and continue to get stronger. As for taven, it’s hard to defend his lack of production. He was suppose to be strong quick and athletic but he is getting tossed around and not impacting the game. He should still make some splash plays and pressure off athletic ability alone. I’ll root for him but Caldwell should feel the heat for that pick
road game with a bunch of new faces playing. Ravens had starters out there for a while. I'm sure their fans think they're super bowl bound. They had the top ranked defense last year and we played terribly. I thought the defensive players looked ok. Just can't be on the field all game and not put up any points or you'll look embarrassing. Hopefully having live game tape will help. I'd rather have a team on the upswing going into the season anyways.

Lol..good grief. They didn't play anybody.  Whatever.
Taven got pushed around a lot in the game. He looks soft and he is expected to take over for Jackson next year...that is laughable right now.
All of my Jags gear is fuel for a mass conflagration as you all read this. If our tryouts can’t play better than this in the first preseason scrimmage, THEN ALL HOPE IS LOST.

Uh oh, the flames got a little out of control. What’s the number to 911?
As I said. Offensive line depth was a concern last year. It's still a concern this year. Now it's being reported that Cam Robinson is questionable for the regular season opener.

Given Linder's track record. And now Robinson's recovery from last year's injury still lingering from week 2 of last year? It's something we'll all want to keep an eye on.

We'll see what happens next week. Is it week 2 or week 3 where the starters typically play extensively? That'll be the game where the most of us will say either there's some hope or get ready to swan dive off of the Modis building.

The ravens blitzed a lot for a preseason game. That wss a little odd.
Week 1 in the books. We came out looking the most incompetent. Players have to play. Coaches have to coach.

Not digging the vibe Doug Marrone is giving off in his recent press conferences or interviews. He really sounds like he's lost this season already.

Not any reason to be confident as a fan at the moment. It's a bummer. Especially after seeing several teams look on point offensively with their starters.

We're behind the ball already out the gate. Not good.

It's kinda funny how no one can agree about how Taven looked.

I know, as i saw him get pushed around several times.

Take away all the sugar coating and he looked mediocre at best.  He was struggling against 3rd stringers.

Nobody is going to agree, but he looked just fine.  A second year DT isn't exactly going to be a "sack machine" nor is he going to generate a lot of headlines from his play.  He did fine.  Do I wish that he did better?  Of course, but the bottom line is he's not much better or worse than the average DT in the league.  He's a young rotational player.

As far as this first preseason game scrimmage, I liked a few things and have some concerns about others.  I'm still "on the fence" as far as starting the regular "#1's" or not.  Coach Marrone expressed that this is new to him as well, but his explanation kind of makes sense.  If your front line players have a good week of practice then there is no reason to risk injury in a meaningless game scrimmage.  I suspect that most of the injuries right now are not severe and holding players out of either practice or a meaningless game scrimmage is probably the smart thing to do.

O-line depth seems to be THE major issue right now.  It doesn't really matter that there were no points scored by the team or the fact that they failed to cross the 50 yard line.  What matters is evaluating the depth and people that the team MIGHT have to depend on in the upcoming season.  Cutting the roster almost in half (90 players to 53) can not be easy, especially if you have some young players that might be promising.

Relax.  Once Game 1 of the regular season takes place we will have a better idea of where this team is.

He never got us passed midfield and he just looked like the game was too fast for him. Why was his helmet constantly flying off? That guy is gonna have brain damage before the season starts, if he doesn't find a tighter fitting helmet. He reminded me of watching Cody Kessler. Can we cut Tanner Lee now? This guy has no future as a QB in any league. He has no feel for the pass rush, lacks instincts, and is inaccurate. His first series reminded me of Blake Bortles, on his worst day. McGough was awful as well, against guys who will be bagging groceries in a few weeks. It's time to start drafting a young QB in the 2nd to 4th rounds and quit waiting until the 6th or 7th rounds. We're not going to find Tom Brady. That was a one off. Let's develop a guy with actual talent and a proven record to develop behind Foles. If God forbid, Foles gets injured, we WILL have the #1 pick in the 2020 draft. Pray he stays healthy.

2. The O-Line was pathetic. The interior was decent, (not great), but the Tackles were awful. Richardson needs to be used exclusively at OG. I'm almost ready to bring back Jeremy Parnell. If Taylor can't win the starting RT job, that's gonna be a HUGE problem area, because I fear Ogbuehi would start there and after watching him fail miserably here in Cincinnati, I can honestly say, I'd rather have Flowers back. Ogbuehi is a dumpster fire.

3. We played very conservatively tonight, but there were some concerning drops by the receivers. Mainly from guys who probably won't make the team, but still, it was a little alarming.

4. The run defense gave up some very big plays. Granted, our starters didn't play, but we apparently need more consistent play at backup NT and way more depth at Linebacker.

5. I was hearing good things about Breon Borders, but he looked bad. He missed a couple key tackles and got beat on a couple big plays. I was not impressed. Luckily, he probably would not have made the team anyway. We are pretty deep at CB.

6. Once again, our overall depth is a concern. If we get the injury bug like we did last year, it'll be a very long season. My biggest concerns are QB and OT's on the offensive side and NT and  linebackers on the defensive side. If we lose key starters at any of those positions, it'll cost us dearly.

This was not the look I wanted to see from this team to start the season. I know it was the first preseason game of the year, but sheesh! That was ugly. Very few positives to focus on.
Minshew was put in an impossible position to have any success for his first rookie game.  It is bad enough for a young QB to deal with the speed of the NFL and then try to adjust to the game behind an outrageous offensive line. I am not saying he is the answer at the backup position but I do think to evaluate him after that game is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I don't think a season NFL quarterback could succeed behind that online. When I see him play behind a good Oline with better quality players then it would be fair to judge his performance.

It depends on how you define "success".  I saw a few good things as well as a few not-so-good things out of him.  One thing that is certain is that he is the best QB on the team behind Foles.  Is he ideal for the job?

As one of our other members always says, time will tell.
The problem with Minshew wasn't that his stats were bad or that he failed to score, his problem was he showed all the stuff about having too weak an arm for the NFL game was true.
The stupid part was just the Ravens starting defense playing at home trying to throw in stupid blitzes from every direction in a Pre-Season game.. they came out like they were mad about getting whipped all week during practice. That was probably the real story. Jackson got crushed a few times. He'll have to carry that into the regular season. Imagine if Foles took the beating Minshew did.
