We need to restructure Campbell's contract and extend him another 3 years. I don't wanna lose him. Same for Dareus. Our run defense is night and day without him.

Man Calais looked great last night. He has ever had a game where he looked that unstoppable? If plays like this for the rest of the season, we will be good

Campbell balled out the whole game even when got dinged up twice. He was at the helm of our defensive performance and the young studs followed suit. Our D-line ate good Thursday night.

No, he's still a great player but 3 years from now? Dareus you could make an argument for, the run defense is so much better when he's in the mix and he's 29.

Dude should be in the Pride one day. By far the best FA the Jags have ever had. Sorry Brunell he is better.

Definitely a bull in the China shop. The first two games he looked like he was hitting the wall and father time was catching up. Last night he was on FIRE. After Poz left I felt Campbell moved into the leadership position on Defense and last night was was leading by example. Outstanding play by him. He'd better be up for defensive player of the week.

Well Brunell was a trade but I get your point. Jimmy Smith may have an argument though!

Disagree 110%. The guy is still dominant. I don't care about age if the guy is still balling. I look at production. Besides, the last year of a contract is always easy to get out of, so it would essentially be a 2 year extension.

Disagree 110%. The guy is still dominant. I don't care about age if the guy is still balling. I look at production. Besides, the last year of a contract is always easy to get out of, so it would essentially be a 2 year extension.

Yeah so what's the rush in seeing what he produces this season and next? Is he going to command some mega contract at 35 years old?

Because he's gonna cost us $17.5 million next year on his current deal. By restructuring and extending the contract, we can get that 2020 number down, assure we keep him past 2020 and make him happy with a short term extension. Cutting him after this season would save us $15 million in 2020, but I definitely don't wanna do that. The guy is way too valuable. Maybe we can give him a 3 year extension that is back loaded with a bigger signing bonus and more guaranteed money, but would lower his 2020 cap hit to a more manageable rate.

In a salary cap, you have to think about age.  I am ecstatic that CC is playing at this level.  I hope he plays that way every day he is in a Jaguars Jersey, but the chances that he continues at that level at this age are slim to none.  Go back and look at 2017.  How many sacks did he have in the playoffs or the last month of the season?  35 is 35.  It is more likely than not that at some point in the next 24 months that we see a marked decline, and you have Ramsey (hopefully) and Ngakue that are in the primes of their career that are going to be looking to be PAID.  Their futures could be a decade not just trying to hang on for one or two years.

I agree with you somewhat but I think we can preserve him for later in the season by using Bryan and Smoot more.  And it looks like they may be ready to step up and play better, so maybe there's a way to extend CC's career.

We can all think Coughlin for Campbell. Campbell has said a few times one of the main reasons he came here and picked us over Denver was because of Coughlin

CC has been an absolute BLESSING for this team.. If I'm Khan, I'm letting him play as long as he wants and is up for it..

I don't think there's a happy medium when it comes to Coughlin. He's either loved or loathed and both sides of the fence have appealing arguments. It's a very weird, bi-polar feeling when he comes to mind. I wish there was a way to move him to more of a consultant role with less decision making ability..

Still dominant *today*. But if you look at how he plays now vs what he was doing a couple years ago, he's not quite as consistent which is usually the first sign a player is aging and it happens fast in the NFL. Not For Long. Restructuring and extending for 3 more years is a huge stretch for a 33 year old defensive lineman.
