Quote:Yep --- old enough to remember cops telling us to spill our beer out when they'd pull us over (yes - underage drinking and driving in the Pittsburgh suburbs). Then the ole safety statement: "Are you sure you're going home? Make sure you go straight home"
Imagine that !!!
Though what I'm mentioning is a little off topic but it relates to the Pittsburgh connection. One of the teams I enjoyed watching the most in my teen years was the ' We are Family' Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Terminator and Blade Runner.
Top Gun is one of my all time favorites. I had pretty much just joined the Navy when that movie came out. I've probably seen it 30-40 times.
Gimme Shelter
edit: apparently there is more than one film by this name. The one I am referring to is the 1970 film of the Rolling Stones. Man, I went to this movie stoned, and it just blew my socks off.
Animal House
Dirty Dozen
Old even for me but still a fantastic movie, Bridge on the River Kwai.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Sting

Before they made so much money off of it. I was treated the same way in the late 90s in Baker county...often.

I used to watch Top Gun on VHS EVERYDAY after school in like 5th grade. I still can recite the whole damn movie
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Caddyshack
Empire Strikes Back
Blazing Saddles
IIRC Caddyshack and Blazing Saddles got a lot of TV time back then. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to see them.

Cuz hbo and Cinemax only had about six movies between them to play all month.
spaceballs was great. In terms of terrible parodies - much akin to the 1st Scary Movie.
Has everybody seen I'm Gonna Get You Sucka?

Satirical Blaxploitation, what's not to love?
Good question. For me it was a three way tie.
Braveheart
Gladiator
A Knight's Tale
Those three movies till this day. Doesn't matter if it's on a TV Network with commercials, etc. If I am bored and having nothing else to do I'll watch those three movies without thinking twice about it. Braveheart was out when I was six or seven years old. I watched it then but didn't understand the political aspect of it at that time. As I grew older it grew on me. I know Mel has gone off the deep end with his rants but he's still one of my favorite actors.
Gladiator is just awesome. I enjoy all of the scenes. From the political moves to the violence. It's a well thought out and pieced together movie. And A Knight's Tale was just great too. Perfect balance of comedy and action with a good story line that's not too sappy with the love parts. I like how they played some old David Bowie and AC/DC throughout the movie. And it has some great moments where William is knighted, when he sees his father for the first time after leaving it kind of gets to me sometimes. It's a subtle and simple scene yet captured perfectly. That movie kind of showcased Heath Ledger's talents as an actor very early on. It's a shame he passed away.
Two more I am going to mention. Training Day. Enough said. And Stand By Me. That's an awesome coming of age flick.

Some
amazing scenes in that movie!
"I heard you screamin' from all the way over there"
"I wasn't screamin' all right?!"
"I heard you"
"I wasn't screamin', I was whistlin'!"
"You was whistlin' 'Willie come get this crazy ##### off of me'?!"
"Yeah!"
Quote:The Wraith
Because a supernatural death machine is even scarier with a huge Dodge logo on it.

I love A Knights Tale!! It's one of those movies that if I come across it while scrolling through the channels, I always have to watch it!!

He is. But you have to
believe he is!

If I can't
SEE him...it ain't gonna work!!
I'm sure you can find a nice picture of him on the internet...while you read the book.
edit: FYI, you won't find any pictures of him that are very recent...at least for your sake I hope you don't.
