When healthy, Tua is just as good a prospect as Burrow. Tua has elite traits and if you can build around his elite traits, you can have a franchise QB.

With his health issues and our o-line...definitely a risk. Let’s be honest, even QBs like Burrows come with a risk of transitioning to the NFL world. Not that I wouldn’t take that risk on Burrows, but he won’t be there by the 9th pick.

Maybe it's just human nature on my part, but if an elite QB was still on the board at the 9th pick, I would wonder if there was something wrong in my evaluation.  I'd have a hart time pulling the trigger on a risky pick, especially with all the less-risky players that were still available at other positions of need.

Move Jack to will.

Acquire capable middle linebacker.

Acquire nose tackle run stuffer.

Move Cam to guard.

Acquire Left Tackle.

Acquire CB.

Acquire TE.

Keep Calais one more year to mentor Allen but try to restructure.

Cuts:   Lee, Dareus (unless he's healed well and will restructure), AJ Cann, Abry Jones, Jake Ryan, and maybe Bouye
That clears up about 48 million w/ Bouye gone, 37 million if you keep Bouye.

This  ^ as a bare minimum could at least limit the ugly losses to fewer than 2019.

You definitely cut Bouye. He’s a good football player but not worth the price tag.

They won't so that unless they absolutely have to.  DC and DM are on a one-year plan, and they will keep every good player they can.
You have to sign Ngakoue.

You keep Bouye and Campbell. We can't release everyone in the name of cap room and expect the coaches (and GM) to be properly evaluated as to whether they can win.

I don't know if the short leash given to Dave and Doug included any limits on Dave's authority to spend in FA on long-term deals or not, but I could see Khan not wanting to create further cap mess down the road if these two prove they are not the solution. I do not foresee any wild spending in FA this season.

The smartest move we can make is getting a true, long-term fixture at MLB to guide the defense. Keep Payne for depth, he has shown that he is capable. Shift Jack back to WLB, and he and Williams have that position set for the foreseeable future.

I still don't understand how Doug was able to sell retaining Wash as DC. It makes me sick, so going forward, I guess I invest in airline sickness bags?

Of course any player ever to come out could bust.  Aaron Curry, Trent Richardson, and Luke Joeckel to name a few of the safest picks to ever bust.  But when it comes to a safe QB, I would say Burrow is about as safe as it gets

I dont think you have seen Burrow play.  Even when healthy, when Tua played against a good defense or got some pressure he crumbled even with one of the best olines in college and the best WR corps.  Burrow does the opposite.

I have seen Burrow play and as of now, he's a 1 year wonder. Burrow will be the #1 pick but I would be a little weary of someone who goes from a 6th round pick to the #1 overall pick in 1 off season.

Tua came into the national title game against Georgia and brought them back for a win. He played in back to back national title games. He actually has a higher passer rating than Burrow this season.... And Burrow is having a historic season. Despite what you may think, Tua is an elite QB prospect.

If Tua comes out and his medical checks out, I doubt he makes it to #9 anyway.
