Quote:It's not just his throwing motion. He stares at his intended receiver. The safeties are reading his eyes, and the slow delivery makes it easy for them to intercept.
Combine that with being incredibly inaccurate. It has to be the #1 concern for the team right now. How the heck does the coaching staff not see this all training camp and work with him to fix it? Why is it freaking impossible to get some good coaching around here?

He actually looked much sharper in camp. His motion was more compact and his accuracy was better.
(based on three practices I attended and what I read/saw from local beat reporters at the time)
It was actually a storyline for a while - That Blake looked like he "just keeps getting better."
Now he's pulling a Demetrius McCray and falling off a cliff. I hope it's a temporary setback and not a major regression.

This is bad at a Byron leftwich level.
Mechanics are Critical
I think he's more comfortable throwing that way. In the heat of the moment, he just forgets everything he's learned and reverts back to natural Bortles.

Yeah I guess I can't comment as far back as camp, maybe it was good then. I do recall in the first two preseason games a lot of posters on this board noticed his throwing motion was way off. If people on this board noticed it in preseason, how in the world do they not notice it? If they noticed it in preseason, they clearly didn't care enough to address it. Gus Bradley today in his presser when asked about Blakes mechanics said that "Well his accuracy is up". It looks to me they are not even going to address it.

Well, with all due respect to bb5, natural bortles sucks. His accuracy is garbage with that motion. His throws are off and puts his receivers in dangerous positions of getting laid out.
His motion needs to get cleaned up or he'll wash out of the league in a few years. If the last 2 weeks is what bb5 is, we need to begin looking to replace him because he's a bust.
Based on what we saw last year, I think he's regressing because of poor coaching that has no emphasis on anything including accountability. But the longer this continues the more this motion becomes habit, the higher the likelihood that this coaching staff may be permanently affecting bb5's future success.
I tried throwing a nerf football just now like Blake, and it just didn't feel right, I would compare my throwing motion to gabbert

I'm more like a Brady. Really accurate, really quick, really accurate.
Even when I throw deep, I don't dip the ball to my waist, it stays like shoulder height.

Yeah man mine just goes over my shoulder and them comes out fast, on target and fast.

He has to be injured and trying to play through it.
Today, I looked at some highlights from last year and he wasn't throwing like Leftwich.
This year his throws are labored. He's over compensating for whatever muscle is pulled or torn. Almost like his elbow is hurt and he using all shoulder.
Otherwise he is just terrible.
The fact that year 3 looks just as bad as year 1 is a very bad sign. Maybe he doesn't have it in him to actually improve upon these things. Time will tell.
