We now have an insane 12 picks in this draft. I think the odds of us coming out of this draft with 12 rookies are slim. Dave said today the reason for trading away players was to put us in a position to manouvre in FA and the draft.
So how do you expect them to play it?
The consensus is that this is a very deep draft. There will be good players available well into round 4. If it was me, I'd be looking to package those later picks to get as many picks as possible in the top 100 or so. We could legitimately come out of this draft with 6 or 7 players who could project as long term starters.

I'm usually in the trade down camp but this year I want to trade up from 20 to mid teens to get another elite player. I feel we can get 2 elite players with 2 top 15 picks. I feel like our team needs that right now

Yeah I'm 100% in on that idea too, if we can get two studs in the first the rest is all gravy tbh.
San Fran have the 11th pick now, and then nothing else till the mid rounds. I wonder if they'd like to pick up some more picks by trading down. I wonder what it would take.

I just did a mock on fanspeak following my idea of using a later round picks to move up to get as many in the first four rounds. We end up with 8 players, all of whom could project to be immediate helpers or possible starters down the road.
Thoughts?
SF is picking at 13, not sure though

Even better, costs less to get up there and there will still be a stud available.
I think they will trade up at least once in this draft.
I expect targets to (potentially) include:
NT
CB1
WR
OL
No idea how the draft plays out so it could be any one or two of these spots that they move back into the first or second to select.
Edge rusher is a longshot to consider as well if they have some confidence that Ngakoue will truly sit out rather than play on the tag.
I would move up in round 1 to 16 and get CJ Henderson

He does look like the number 2 corner after Okudah. The'd probably get this done by parting with one of the 4th rounders. Would be a good move.
Oh we are definitely planning on trading up in the 1st
I'm thinking that we either trade up to the late 1st round or move up in the 2nd round and target a WR like Mims/Higgins.
I also agree that we will trade up.
I actually think it'll happen multiple times during the draft. I wouldn't be surprised to see us pick 3 times in the opening round and I and/or back in the second from the third round.
That is as of now. Once Yannick is traded the situation will be even more fluid and our ability to move up will be even greater.
Not necessarily related to the draft but some of those picks could eventually be used to trade for a veteran so we'll see what's the draft capital really is at the end of this month.
I think a lot of the moves that have been made are a sign that the scouts see a lot of value at the middle of this darft.
I see us moving around, but more geared toward a late two or early three. We have a lot of Day 3 picks, and that allows us a ton of flexibility to move around on days two and three to where the guys we covet will meet value.
bold prediction: the only way we make three selections in the first is if we trade down from 9.
Last year, the Jags traded a 7th round pick to the Seahawks for their 6th round pick in this year's draft. With 12 picks this year, I could also see Caldwell do something similar to this to better his picks in 2021.
Sorry to break it to yez, and this probably deserves its own thread but
DAVE IS GONNA MOVE UP AND TAKE A FRANCHISE QB

That was actually in the back of my mind.

The Modis would be over crowded if this happens.

But he has his franchise QB already?
Honestly though... we're gonna move up from 9 to what 4 (to get ahead of Miami) for Tua?
Don't like that move, not because Tua doesn't have talent but because he's in need of an NFL redshirt year to get fully healthy... and even still has an injury history prior to even hitting the NFL. He also needs a really strong OL in front of him, something that is questionable that we will field this coming season.
Herbert, Love, Eason? These are not guys you move up to get imo. At least one will be available at 9.
This is not the draft to go all-in on a QB.
I think the extra picks should be packaged to move up and around into rounds 2 thru 4.
Or perhaps packaged up for a veteran trade.

Yeah I don't see it.
Not out of the realm of possibility though.
Between the 4th - 5th RD selections I could see them moving back up into the bottom of RD2 and/or RD3. My guess is that if they move it's going to be for a player they see as a starter already. Going to throw a few names out here that you might want to keep an eye on. I think they could be starters here early and I think it's likely they'll be in the mix for them.
I know some people will be like "WTH" with Cole McDonald as my 5th player to watch at QB. But, with Foles being traded and with Dobbs being gained last year it still leaves the QB position a little uncertain and on edge with the "in case of" scenario happening. We need to continue drafting at the skill positions. Especially the QB position.
Defense:
1. Darrell Taylor - EDGE RUSHER - Tennessee University
2. Logan Wilson - INSIDE LINEBACKER - Wyoming
3. Jaylon Johnson - CORNER - Utah
4. Julian Blackmon - SAFETY - Utah
5. Khalil Davis - DEFENSIVE TACKLE - Nebraska
Offense:
1. Antonio Gandy-Golden - RECEIVER - Liberty
2. Jon Runyan - GUARD - Michigan
3. Adam Trautman - TIGHT END - Dayton
4. Harrison Bryant - TIGHT END - Florida Atlantic
5. Cole McDonald - QUARTERBACK - Hawaii
