Quote:It's definitely not "just the players." The scheming and play calling have been a disaster. This team lacks leadership and that starts from the top down.
Other than week two, I don't think the scheming and play calling was that bad. Week two was just one of those games to erase from the records. I watched this past game again and the play calling looked pretty legit. Not as bad as I thought, even the 4th quarter that initially looked pedestrian was ok. I saw a ton of opportunities that Blake missed and he wasn't under any sort of pressure. Hurns route running was down right nasty and he was open quite a bit, but Blake hardly looked his way. One other observation was that Ivory was not hitting the correct holes or not seeing them. The way the blocking unfolded my amateur guess is he flat out missed them.
He was pretty hard on Bortles on Jaguars Monday and I can't say I disagree. Saying things like (paraphrasing) "there's not a lot of evidence to suggest the 35 TD's weren't fools gold", "Maybe Garapallo is better than Bortles is right now".

Boseli is a company tool

Accountability is the number one problem with this team, mainly because there doesn't appear to be any. A good head coach sets the tone for this and it flows through everything in a program. The garbage Blake pulled at the end of the Ravens game should have garnered a public lashing from the head coach with him also not starting the Colts game ( don't get me wrong you put him in as fast as you can) but it would send a message, this is a young team that the rod seems to have been spared, unfortunately I don't think Gus has the fortitude to do what's necessary.
The last loss was a fail on the players. The offense needed one first down on 2 successive possessions and didn't get it. That's just players being helpless and stems from not having a running game. Which isn't Gus's fault. However, someone needs to be held accountable and that is the head coach.

Fred Taylor was also critical of the players and basically making a mockery of our running game. The backs have no chance on almost every carry.

Quote:He's also admittedly biased and he doesn't hesitate to remind listeners of that fact.

He also said on the radio last week that staff changes become more of a conversation if they start 0-4. That's his openly biased way of acknowledging a problem.

He's not as bad as many here want to portray him. His delivery makes it a little tough to stomach for some fans though, and I get that. He's condescending at times.
To me 0-3 isn't much different than 0-4. You still haven't won a game. Gets old listening to guys like him try to justify how bad this coaching is by just one more game.

Tell me something, if the running backs were pulling an '07 FreddyT/MJD pounding, would gus get the praise? Yes he would. It's the same in failure. Just because it's going the wrong way doesn't make it any less of the coaches fault. He's here to teach them techniques and tactics.

I looked at all of the gus seasons and the team "fought" harder that first year when they gutted the roster.  He did better with Gene Smith's roster.  And then sure year 2 was a rookie QB but there wasn't a visible difference when you break down the stats.

Pretty sure there were only around 7 of 22 starters in 2013 that were Gene picks/acquisitions.

Soo.......You don't blame the player if they take a bad angle, fumble the ball, throw an interception or miss a FG??? Who is to blame for these player errors? I'm down with moving on from Gus and ready to start anew, but the players aren't robots that get numbers and schemes programmed into their back.

Some of the players are playing like junk and they're culpable for their play as much as the play calls on offense are a contrubitor to a lot of what's gone wrong with the offense.
