What does playing basketball have to do with being a good QB?  Also Fournette != "the players".

Fournette does not equal 'the players'.
Take away 2015...and Cam has had a pretty MEDIOCRE career.  Over 8 years (not counting last year, where he only played TWO games)

Cam's 16 game average: 3558 yards/22.75 TDs a year/13.37 INTs a year/59.6 completion percentage/601 rushing yards/7 TDs/6.25 Fumbles/2.25 Fumbles lost

Gardner (14 games played, 12 started): 3271 yards/21 TDs/6 INTS/60.6 completion percentage/344 rushing yards/0 rushing TDs/13 Fumbles/7 Fumbles lost

Granted, Gardner had more fumbles/fumbles lost, but Cam offsets that by throwing seven more pics. Statistically speaking....theyre the SAME QB....Gardner is just 40x cheaper (half a million vs 20 million).

If you truly think Cam Newton and Gardner Minshew is the same QB then I employ you to stop watching football because this sport is not for you

Agreed. Minshew has way more upside at this point their respective careers.

They are not the same. Gardner is more accurate and I’d also venture to say more intelligent

Just because I hurt your feelings....doesn't make me wrong.  After NINE years, you KNOW what you are getting with Newton: A QB who is going to be 31 before the season starts and has been sacked almost 300 times and has been rocked God knows HOW many times after taking off running.  He has a career 1.68/1 TD to Interception ratio and he's only had 2 out of 8 seasons getting his completion percentage over 60%; thats even having some pretty stellar O line play in Jordan Gross, Andrew Norwell (even though he sucks for us), Ryan Kalil, and Trai Turner.

My man you never hurt my feelings its Sports Debate not personal and nothing wrong with having a difference of opinion my friend. They both have a different style of play and Gardner Minshew does have more upside. The question is can  Gardner Minshew reach it with this coaching staff and if Cam Newton can healthy he is the better player right or without the deadly accuracy. Gardner Minshew only two for 60% last year so let's just hope he can improve upon that statistic.

Fair enough: but when you tell someone to stop watching footbal 'because this sport is not for you'?  That sounds pretty personal.  Im all about having differences of opinion if you're willing to debate about it.  I agree Minshew has more upside.  However, I also believe that Newton is on the downside of his career.  Even with the stellar O-Line he had in Carolina, he could never quite put it together outside that outstanding MVP season he had. The rest of his career he's been mediocre.  Better athlete? Sure.  Better QB?  That's up to debate.  He's 71-59-1 for his career.  Take away that MVP season; that winning record drops to a pedestrian 56-58-1.  You willing to stake our season on questionable accuracy, questionable health, and a SEVERELY questionable offensive line? I'm not.  I'd rather roll with the kid that's younger, been here, and knows the players in the building already. Most important: he didn't look like an abject dumpster fire while he was being fed to the wolves last year.

let me be a man I apologize for my bad choice of words because I should have used a better set way to express my opinion about your first opinion on the situation. If you ask me honestly I hope the team tank so we can get Trevor Lawrence and become a real playoff contender. I like Gardner Min shew but his upside is very questionable and limited at this time. So the only thing we could do is let the whole situation play out and then go from there as far as getting the team on the right track.

You question Minshew but thought Bortles was the greatest. That is weird as Mishnew had a much more productive 1st season vs Bortles.

I can respect that.  Do I WANT Minshew to be the next coming of Drew Brees? Yes.  Am I holding my breath on that one?  No, because I would die.  Im with you on Trevor Lawrence.  The kid is a WINNER.At the same time, I DO love Minshews MIND.  The kid can pick up a playbook like no one's business.  This year should be interesting.  Depending on what we get for Yan, we can make next year REAL interesting come draft time.

My man, you got to be a troll but I have time so I I have time so I will answer you. I never thought Blake Bortles was the greatest but i felt like he he wasn't as bad as some of y'all made him out to be on this team. Let me say for the millionth time I was wrong about his upside but it's not totally his fault that he didn't make it. Part of the reason why Blake Bortles did not make it because of his personal shortcomings, coaching staff, and lack of personnel to suceed at a consistent level. So Gardner Minshew did have a nice year last year but a lot of things went right for him personnel and schedule wise. However, there are things that I seen from Gardner Minshew last year that be concerning to his long-term success. I don't know will translate long-term but we will find out one way or another.
Pretty good thread. Obviously, Minshew doesn't have the body of work to truly compare to Newton but it's a pretty good argument /comparison on the surface.

After reading Newton's numbers above, it is true that he's had a rather mediocre career but the MVP win and SB appearance always count for a little extra.

True. No one can ever take that 2015 season away from him but my GOD he got shellshocked in that Super Bowl. 18/41 passes for 265 yards, 1 pick, 2 fumbles and 6 sacks.  The lasting image of his career will be pulling up off diving on that lose ball.

Headline should read: Fournette campaigns to be traded.

Don't publicly request your team to sign a player like that especially not the QB. What a fool. Wonder if we can package him and Yan, send them to a team as bad as us for a couple mid round picks at this point.
Raiders? Skins?...

I'm down for anything at this point. Let the management run the team (even if they suck at it, that is their job), just shut up and play football.

If you want to be in the Trevor Lawrence Sweepstakes you don't make this move.  Newton would win just enough to move us out of that.
