He had a couple rough plays early on... I thought he got benched for the next series, then he comes back with a nice pick- All I could find on this guy
I think he's being looked at as primarily as a return specialist, with CB being more of a developmental/emergency role. Kind of similar when long snapper Joe Zelenka was listed as a TE.

Thoughts as this draft comes to an end?

Look I'm normally pessimistic but this is just an awful draft class

I'm not overly enthused about it, though it's not without its good points.  I am coming around on Henderson, and I think the Shenault and Johnson picks have intriguing potential.  I have no real opinion on Bartch just yet, though fromt he bits and pieces I have read and heard about his intangibles, I have hope.

That said, I think much of the dissatisfaction over this draft is based upon the expectation that more would be done to give Minshew help on offense.  I was among those whi thought/hoped they would.

But in early retrospect, that was an unrealistic expectation.

The defense has been purged of players, and on top of that, they were switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4.

They had to spend draft capital accumulating personnel to have sum semblance of success implementing that change.

The team desperately needed a stud NT.  The team needed depth at LB.  To me, they could have stood to draft one or two more.

The team needed DBs.

If you looked at the roster, we had far fewer needs on offense than defense.

Not every need was going to be adequately addressed in one draft, even with 12 picks.
How hard is it to covert a WR to a CB? Neon Deion was a CB who played some WR.

Reason I’m asking is it doesn’t seem smart to ask a 5’8” corner to cover a 6’4” WR, especially in jump ball situations.

This is why I like the Collin Johnson pick.

If you line him up at the slot, who does the D use to cover him?

Usually nickelbacks are smaller  No way they can win any jump balls against him.

If defenses somehow move a bigger more physical starting CB to cover hum, he still will be shorter than Johnson, having Johnson in the slot will better enable him to escape the jam at the LOS, and it will take the corner off of Chark or Shenault.

LBs might be big enough to cover him, but not nimble or fast enough.

That's all I got.

And that is why he was drafted. You can't teach that kind of speed.

Means absolutely nothing.

Yeah.  I think Caldwell said as much in the presser.

I said that is why he was drafted. Not why he would be good or why he would make the team. It was clear he was brought in to compete in the secondary and to be a potential return specialist. If he makes the team and contributes is another story.

Winner winner chicken dinner!

On the end of draft conference call he said Claybrooks will primarily be used as a return specialist. He mentioned they struggled with field position last year so hopefully he can help improve in that area. 4.25 speed is definitely nothing to shrug at. He’ll gradually be brought on to learn CB but that will not be his forte.
Hes got some wheels, that's for sure..

Would love to see that at the bank.
I really hope he works out better than our past return specialists.
