No matter how great our running game would be, it wouldn't change the terrible delivery of BB Duck Hunt 5.

BB Duck Hunt has terrible mechanics and aweful awareness.

Our current starting QB is not very good.  I defended him all last year against the tack QB.  Now I'm not so sure..,.

I dunno know man, it's tough to win when your QB throws for three INT's............regardless of how great or how lousy the rest of the team is doing. Right now, he's not gotten off to a start that would personify being a franchise QB. I don't think the bloggers are throwing Bortles "under the bus". He's managing to do that all by himself.

The INTs this week wasnt on terrible throws like some of his INTs have been, one was a great play by the LB, the other was a tip ball, and the last one he had to try and do something down the field.

The prob is he has to press and make all the plays, we have zero running game, of course he is gonna throw INTs if he has to do everything

Not knowing when to throw the ball away repeatedly. (Especially when you have no timeouts and mere seconds on the clock and you are outside the hash.)

Forcing 3 or 4 passes into ridiculous amounts of coverage.

Missing wide open guys by a mile with no pressure / clean pocket.

Staring down one guy too long and too often.
What's the difference between Gus apologists and Blake apologists? When people defended Gus they were called idiots. Blake sucks. Time to draft someone new.

Draft who? You're inept. Bortles is better than any QB in college.
Ravens have a terrible run game and are 3-0.

Quote:You can blame Bortles all you want, we are prob last in the NFL in rushing yards and avg

If we were just 15th in the NFL we would be 2-1, Packers game would be a win with a good running game, and the Ravens game would be a win, but yet when we needed to run out the clock, they RBs ran into brick walls

Its pretty much all on Bortles and the WRs to do it all, no team can win like that, even the great passing teams are good running teams as for as avg yards and total yards
I agree, these "madden" fanatics think that you can just chuck the ball with zero running attack and be successful.

Well then what do we have?

An abysmal, [BLEEP], non-existent one.
We couldn't run the ball, but we made up for it by turning it over.

Here we go. I know you're 2 scouts that you know praise him. But they probably suck too.
I don't get this "we can't run the ball" argument. We couldn't run the ball last year either. Face it. Bortles is taking a step back this year.
Anyone watching the Eagles-Steelers game? Wow, what a display of run blocking on that last drive. It's clear as day this team is absolutely atrocious and it's even clearer after watching a team actually does it well.

When you're a one-dimensional team that can't run even in short yardage situations it's really hard to play QB in the NFL.

They decided they wanted to be a ball control team.  And then when they couldn't run the ball they decided to be a ball control team that can't run the ball.

Actual quote from Blake after the game. Sounds like me in my early teens.

The statement "You know better than that" is a contradiction.

Drew Brees seems to be doing fine
I don't think its so much Bortles as it is a seemingly different offense as a whole. We all kinda figure he was gonna be Bret Favre like in terms of TD to Int ratio. But this dink and dunk kinda offense just seems to be throwing it all out of whack. We seemed to maintain a vertical offense type presence in the pre-season, now it's just like a lot of shallow digs and screens(thankfully the bubble screen wasn't prominent this game).

Saints among the NFL leaders in rushing yards per attempt every year.
OP is totally correct. And until they get this corrected, nothing else matters.

Since Gus:

In 11 of the Jags' 12 wins, they had 90+ rushing yards.

They are 9-7 when they rush for more than 100 yard.

They are 9-5 when they rush for more than 110 yards.

That is not even looking at number of attempts, or per attempt. Just total rushing yards.

It's not all Bortles, but he's playing very poorly and not helping the team right now. The mechanics are bad. The accuracy is bad. Still doesn't know where to go with the ball. Doesn't know to throw the ball away to avoid basically a game ending sack using your last time out... etc. Just a really discouraging period that makes me wonder what we have in Bortles and whether he is ever going to get it.
