Full Version: Blame Bortles all you want, but if we had a halfway decent run game we would be 2-1

Whats with the outside runs? Ivory and especially Yeldon look like they are running in mud.

Can't run inside , can't run outside.
Can someone explain why Dak Prescott has more command over the game than Blake?

Because we have a bad coach. We have bad running backs. We have a bad O-Line. We have a bad defense. Blake doesn't eat enough chicken. **insert Bortles apologist comment here**

Sum it up - Blake sucks.

Not really.  I do think coaching is part of the answer, but I think you have to just admit that Blake has some pretty serious issues too at this point.
He's playing like Roy Hobbs during his tryst with Harriet Bird. Looks like he forgot how to play the game. Where is 2015 Blake?
This is on Gus.  Why has he started throwing like Tebow with that HUGE wind up?  Last year was more crisp and quicker release.  This year he's throwing slow ducks all over the place.  Something is up, and we don't know about it.  Once again, this is on Gus.

He trusts his run game and OLine. He has a good HC who is putting him in positions to succeed.

When Blake is playing up tempo and taking his shots down field, he's good. But when they ask him to do things he's not comfortable with, he looks totally lost. So many tipped passes this year though. Some of his picks have been bad balls and bad luck.
2015 Blake, and the 2015 offense as a whole, is still here - albeit with a couple more additions.  That's the problem.  I was saying it last year when everyone was getting all hyped up on our overblown stats that were largely gained in garbage time, and against historically banged up teams we may recall, if we really want to be objective about it.  It's more than an anomaly that we're 0-9 when we've passed for 300+ yards.  It's more than an anomaly that Blake has as many or more INT's as TD's in the first quarters of games, and not just some inexplicable preponderance to "slow start".  I understand why we were wanting to believe otherwise, after so many years of crap we've endured, and I was hoping I was wrong and wanted to buy in.  But my eyes told me something different, and still do.  My fear was that we would delude ourselves into thinking that all we needed to fix was the D after last years statistics were counted and touted, and then when the offense wasn't performing people would say, "what happened to the offense (and QB) of 2015?"  Well here we are.  They are who they are, and were...  Outside of the teal blinded local media and fans, the national pundits who seriously questioned Blake as a legit franchise QB prospect were right.  It's not so much of a major regression as it is a "coming to reality" that was bound to happen.  I kind of feel sorry for the guy, $$$ or not, he's in a bad spot.  Coaching issues too? Absolutely..  And the GM ain't far behind, he brought GB here, and he also hitched his wagon to a stretch on BB who physically "looked" the part, and we all wanted him to be the guy, but hasn't been able to fix his physical mechanic issues that were there all along, and even more troubling has now demonstrated a continuance to stare down receivers and make very poor decisions (to put it mildly in some cases) after 3 years in the league.
