Mikesez is waiting on his marching orders from Don Lemon before announcing his approval of this pick.

Willie knows!

I'll go out on a limb here.

Black - Check
Female - Check
Half Asian - bonus Check (bi-racial)
democrat - Check

I don't know of other boxes that leftists typically have, perhaps Mikesez or jaflou53 (might be one in the same) could enlighten us.

I was on the fence with Biden. I am no longer. Harris was a TERRIBLE selection. I would've been ok with most of his VP candidates, but Harris was the one that I absolutely HATED. She is blatantly anti-2nd Amendment and she turns EVERYTHING into a racial issue. Biden is obviously in a deteriorating mental state, (as is Trump,) but I don't want Harris ANYWHERE near the presidency. She's the black version of Hillary Clinton. It looks like I will be voting Libertarian for the 3rd presidential election in a row, but I believe this boneheaded move by Biden will assure that Trump stays in power. I know of 5 different people in my family alone who were waiting for Biden's selection before making their minds up and Harris was one of the people that all were against. They probably won't vote at all now, but I'm just gonna go third party again.

Awesome. Hope millions of people who were on board voting Biden feel the same way you do.

Playing devils advocate, could the Biden campaign be so smart as to pick a running mate who will take the brunt of the opposition research while Joe skates by in the background?
A woman? Well that won't go well in here.

its so funny that kamalas grand entrance to this whole process was calling biden racist

She'll help him in California, New York and the Northeast, but she will cost him dearly in middle America. Her anti-2nd amendment stance, penchant for turning everything into a racist issue and generally angry demeanor is a turn off to whites living in flyover states. Democrats once again choose to ignore these blue collar areas and I believe it will cost them once more. Either way the election comes out, America is screwed!

The democrat party has already pretty much conceded this election.

Biden screwed himself when he said he would pick a woman. Then the riots happened and the Democrats panicked (again) and narrowed it to black women. With that said, Rice would've been a much better option. She didn't blatantly attack Biden and insinuate he was a racist and and a creep. This is not a good look for the party.

It took a VP announcement for you to realize the Biden campaign was screwed?

No, I'm not Mikesez, although I could use his support nowSmile As far as the "boxes" that she checks, this is what I had in mind:

1. Strong woman (Trump can't handle strong women, i.e. Pelosi).

2. Very smart, articulate and thinks fast on her feet. As I said before, she will make mincemeat out of Pence in their debate.

3. Not too far left politically. Warren would have been the wrong choice to help beat Trump.

4. Black- You are correct on that one. Biden needs black voters to come to the polls in droves and Harris should help with this. However, regardless of her race, she was the best candidate to be VP.

5. Political experience: She has plenty of this representing California in the Senate.

6. Strong on crime: She has a strong record on this, so much so that some say it will hurt her with the black vote. This will not happen, but it will help with middle of the road white voters.

Those are the boxes I was referring to. I do not believe, however, that Biden should have said in advance that he would pick a woman. He should have simply announced the pick without any pre-conditions on race or gender.

By the way, I am not a "leftist." I'm not a fan of AOC and other far left politicians. I have voted for Republicans in the past and expect to in the future if they are moderate enough on certain issues important to me. Simply put, I believe Trump is the worst thing that ever happened to this country for a myriad of reasons and can't wait til he's gone come November (or January).

I think he had a good chance of winning, until now. He just sunk his own ship.
Not to far left politically?????????? Say what?!?

Maybe Mike hasnt come to your defense because even he cant justify the pick with his 1000 word dissertations. You are literally the only person here who likes it. Lol.
I think she will seem more reasonable once the media gets behind her. He could have done worse. Klobuchar would have been smarter, but he backed himself into a corner. At least she's not a radical progressive.
America may be the dumbest country on Earth when it comes to picking presidential candidates. Both of our choices are old men with failing mental capacities. One is an ego maniac who lies as much as breathes and the other has no clue where he is or what he is supposed to say most of the time. Then we go to the VP selections. One is a religious fanatic who never smiles, thinks it should be a law to hold funerals for fetuses, doesn't approve of condoms and doesn't believe in evolution or global warming. On the other side, you have a woman who is sternly anti-2nd amendment, thinks everything is a racial issue and has called her own running mate out on these issues and believes his accusers who call him a "molester". Add to that her generally angry demeanor and she, like her Republican VP opponent, is extremely unlikable. I honestly didn't think it could get any worse than seeing Trump vs. Hillary, but we have sunk to new lows. Since our presidential candidates are basically two elderly men in the early stages of dementia, it comes down to Pence vs. Harris and that is a no win situation. I see the end of America as we know it.
Taking everything into account, she's really not that bad of a pick. She's a scrapper, pretty smart, and doesn't have any heavyweight baggage.

Also taking into account is the belief by many, including a sizable number of democrats, that the VP pick is destined to be president within a couple years. So the question which has to be asked to those who are pulling the D lever: Do you want Harris as President? It's a rhetorical question, really. Y'all would take anyone over Trump.

I'm still chuckling at the "Heels Up Harris" moniker I read somewhere else.

No doubt, some of her views are left of Biden's like immigration and health care. However, she's not as far left as Sanders, Warren, etc. Liberals are not crazy about her record on crime. Bottom line is these differences are trivial. It doesn't bother me that the vast majority of people on this board disagree with my views. My guess is that the political views of people on this board differ from that of the overall population and this will prove true come November 3.

In this age of social media, who in their right mind would want to be President ? They dig up every skeleton from your past (we all have them except Trump, who is perfect), and it's the most stressful job in the world. They take a huge pay cut for all that aggravation and probably decrease their life span by 5 years.

I'll say one thing for Willie Brown, he has my respect as a master politician. I was living in California when he was Speaker of the California Assembly and later the Mayor of San Francisco. I always wondered why he didn't run for a national seat and can only guess he has too many skeletons in his closet. The dude kept opponents in knots and always found an avenue to get his way. As far as politicians go, Willie is The Man.
