Between this, and Marrone raving about how good the o-line looks, I really am starting to believe this offense is gonna shock a lot of people this season.

Of course, they may only look good because they are going up against our defense. We are gonna struggle on that side of the ball, undoubtedly.

Honestly if the offense doesn't look great then everyone needs to be let go. The defense is going to be terrible, probably bottom of the league. The OL is facing some starters but after that there is nobody. The secondary is iffy and the safeties aren't great. LBs should be good but you can't make up for the rest of the defense with it.
Yeah this would be much more encouraging if it was 2018. We probably have the worst defense in the league if you take out our pass rush, which these drills do.

Agreed.

One of the reasons I am tempering my excitement over Bartch and the OL talk is the sad state of the defensive line.

Apparently, if you take away Henderson and Harrison, the secondary isn't any better.

He looks bigger

Funny you should mention this.

The radio guys were saying how small he looks in the NFL.

They were saying that in LSU, he looked bigger in comparison to other players.  But today they were saying he looks like just a guy.

Of course, he really hasn't gotten much action in the padded practices so far.

I had my doubts about him when we drafted him.

Hopefully he proves me wrong, starting at Saturday's scrimmage.

Hopefully there will be an extended highlights package for the scrimmage, if not a broadcast of the scrimmage.
Speaking of the offense dominating the defense today, it was mentioned on Twitter that there were 12 TDs thrown in practice today. Seven of those were by Gardner. I know that the defense was missing some players and that had an impact on things. But I hope to see the Jags dominate offensively in real games against other teams. I am interested in seeing some footage from the scrimmage.

This is the time of year, every year, when we have to wonder- is our offense that good, or is our defense that bad.  And, of course, sometimes the other way around.

Our offense completed 12 touchdown passes!  Yippee!
Our defense gave up 12 touchdown passes!  Oh, NO!

I'm going with a little of column A and a lot of column B. I think our offense will be significantly better than most outsiders expect (which isn't saying much because national expectations are super low), but our defense will be absolutely terrible. It's kind of refreshing to have it that way round for once tbh, could lead to some exciting games at least.

Of course with the Jags any rational observations are usually completely turned on their head by about week 4 of the season, so who knows what to expect.

3.  I readily admit I don't know Henderson's assignment on the play, but he looked confused.  I can't imaging Schoebert would have the responsibility of covering a slot receiver that far down the field.  Henderson looked hesitant shifting sides of the field, and he seemed confused as to the coverage.  It seems like he should have been on Westbrook, but I could be wrong.

Todd Wash defense ... having your LBs pick up WRs in their zone scheme.  This strategy totally confuses other teams since we're the only team ever in the NFL, College, High School, or YMCA CoEd league that uses this scheme.

Can't wait until November to see OBJ (Browns) freaking out when he sees Reggie Hunter (#47) matched up against him.  #HunterIsland47  #ShutDownReggie47

I have a feeling our secondary is gonna be near the bottom of the league this year. We reached for a CB in the draft and we basically have nothing behind him. As for Safety, unless Ronnie Harris turns into one of the best Safeties in the league, there's nothing there. We have a lot of bodies at the position, but no quality. Our best chance is to somehow get Ngakoue back on the same page with the rest of the team and create a massive pass rush with him and Allen on the outside. Short of that, I see no hope for the pass defense.
late round rook getting lots of buzz from the local pundits that witnessed practice the past few days

Offense good, defense bad... Im not sure.

But man is it nice to see some well thrown passes each day. I've seen more this week than I usually do for the whole camp.
The Johnson highlights were up and down to me. They were great catches, but I don't like that he was unable to create separation against meh corners in a drill that is very heavily slanted toward the offensive players.

I seen a tweet that said the Secondary was 50% (8 outta 16) rookies on the field yesterday. So take that fwiw when looking at those numbers.
I'm just glad the days of Bortles' throwing footballs is over. I'll take anything now.
Two different angles of Johnson's catches that I posted a bit earlier..
