This all comes down to Khan's ownership skills. He is not a good NFL owner in terms of winning games. Financially? Great owner. He's increased the value of the team incrementally. Guess that's all that matters to him. He doesn't care about winning and it shows. Hes a businessman. That's it.
The problem is that outsiders focus too much on wins and loses. Little do they know that we now have a happy locker room and have our Salary Cap under full control.

Yeah, I'd much rather have happy players and a low cap figure than a Superbowl, an AFC title or even a winning record.  Rolleyes

I was reading an article on the NFL website and it was speculating on roster cuts. When it got to the Jags, they insinuated that another surprise could be Safety Ronnie Harrison. At first, I found this hard to believe since he is young and by far, the best Safety on our roster right now. After thinking about it though, this seems like a typical Jags' move, so anything could happen.

Perhaps Josh Jones, who was waived by Green Bay and Dallas prior to the Jags picking him up fits better into Wash's bend and break system.

Isn't that true......  Laughing
If we could keep the picks we have, we'd be a pretty good team. I think we need to stop focusing on high priced free agents and start re-signing guys we want to stay. Chark comes to mind first.
So in a month if we have a good/decent record what will you say then?

And I'm PISSED we just cut Fournette. Can't even wrap my head around it, but I'm not in full panic mode yet. Let's maybe give the team a few weeks to see how they play first...?

The only thing I can think of regarding Fournette is that the rumors are either true that other players wanted him gone or he just wasn't willing/capable to fit into Gruden's system on offense.

This makes me think we may be using Chris Thompson a LOT more than we originally thought.
Another Fun fact.

Dave  came here in 2013 to "build a team."  His first 5, 1st round picks are no longer on the team.  Talk about failure.

Believe me,  You won't have to worry about that.

Well it wouldn't make much of a difference, dude is hurt half of the time and he is nothing special when he is on the field.

I doubt they release him though.

Just like Fournette, I will agree that Harrison is nothing special and average at best, but we suck at the Safety position. We have no one behind him or opposite him. Safety is a HUGE hole as it is.

Missing on your first and second rounders can really kill a team (as we well know).  And by "missing", I mean failing to evaluate either their talent or their character efficiently.  Its a great story when a 5th or 6th round turns out to be something, but it is really a crap shoot the further down you go in the draft.  If you aren't picking up difference makers in the early rounds that will be in your program for the long haul, well, you have our current situation.  Problems.
Another issues is Khan is going to trust Dave again to make all these picks acquired. I don't believe they have any risk of being fired this year even going win less. Dave sucks in the first round and don't want him making those picks.
I'm not even mad anymore. I find it more comical than anything. Jags are turning into the limbo champs. How low, can ya go?

I'm like Mr Optimism and I can't even be happy about this upcoming season right now. It really looks like a full on tank job now. Who's going to play in place of Harrison?

What I'm REALLY starting to think is that Shad really is all about the mullah. Outside of bringing Coughlin in, he's hardly done a single thing to show he cares about actually winning... And that was really a half hearted attempt at best although it almost worked for one season, I uhh.. Guess.

Why the heck did we bring in Joe Schobert though? That's the one great mystery I can't figure out from a "tanking team". Is it possible these coaches actually think the guys replacing those getting cut are better?

Joe Schobert isn't even very good.  Browns had a ton of salary cap space and chose to let him walk.  Now we have a ton of money tied up in the LB position which isn't even a premium position.  Good teams don't overpay LBers, they spend it on pass rushers and cornerbacks.
Jags FO always act like we're a couple of missing pieces away

When in reality, it's like half the roster

Well played sir.  We really need a like button on this board.

It's not that he's not good, he is good. It's more that a lot of teams have a philosophy that you don't pay big money to off ball linebackers since it's a less important and more easily replaced position. Obviously Dave doesn't share that philosophy since we have two $10M+ AAV off ball linebackers on the books now.
