I think Baalke's success with the 9ers was pretty minimal. He was fired in Jan 2017. Their rebirth under Jimmy G and the elite D started after his departure.
He had his hands in the good Jim Harbaugh/Greg Roman/Kap years... but that was pretty short lived. By 2015 4 years after he was hired they were trash. And Baalke hired Tomsula and Chip Kelly as successors to Harbaugh.
Personally... I'm in the "no retread" category of fans.
Give me an up and comer, some new blood. Not some GM that has had some mild success yet ended up not panning out elsewhere.
