He has no idea the egos involved in the big boy leagues.

It's not mommy and daddy pulling the strings of your players anymore... it's the player or the player's wife.. and he has zero clue how to handle actual men.

He's going to go in there thinking he's the biggest and baddest and then get brought down to earth quick when the majority of his players make more money than him and don't give a crap about what he says.

His college players have the worst arrest record in the history of the sport - but only AFTER they left his protective umbrella....That doesn't say anything?

This is just yet another step in Khan's mission to move the Jags. Alienate and destroy the fanbase.

You really must think Urban Meyer is the dumbest guy in history.  Apparently you know all this stuff and he has no idea.

Come on, man.

He's an egomaniacal idiot that thinks he can do no wrong.

I can't wait until he has another "health issue" when the Jags go 0-6.

He's going to fail harder and more explosively than Spurrier and Saban combined. Zero NFL experience means he literally has no clue what NFL players are like... they don't need a daddy figure anymore - which is exactly what he was to those 18 year olds. Now they are richer than his whole family combined.

I know there's no convincing you, but I say this anyway: Urban Meyer has spent the last 10 years looking into what it would be like to coach in the NFL.  He has been looking into it very intensively for the last few months.  He has friends who are NFL coaches that he has talked to extensively about it, for example Bill Belichick.  Urban Meyer is not the idiot you paint him to be.  He knows what he is getting into.

But apparently you hate the guy for some reason.  What is it?  What did he do?
What a coincidence that pretty much every piece of a GREAT and the BEST staff just so happens to be people that he has worked for before. Even the strength and conditioning coach who hadn't had a job in half a decade and was doing a radio show. Surely he was the best man for the job.

I don't know if Meyer has done anything to deserve this hate.  I do know their are some fans that find negativity in everything.

Look at Upper's post right below yours as an example.

He's hiring college people for professional jobs.

He's literally hiring only people he's worked with before in college and college only. It's going to be a dumpster fire of fail.
We're talking about Urban Meyer here, not Dabo Swinney
And as much as I hate ESPN, there's a reason he's ranked 46th on College Football All-Time Coaches list.

He's a piece of crap.

If you hate ESPN then you are probably aware that ESPN hates the Big 10 and goes out of their way to throw dirt on Ohio State.

Which they deserve and always have. THE Ohio State University sucks. And their former & current players' sad, sad usage of the emphatic THE is just pathetic.

The inferiority complex is severe

So I totally understand the disdain of that school, its history and all their coaches.

Who is your college team?

(01-16-2021, 07:19 AM)The Real Marty Wrote: [ -> ]The step up from NFL coordinator to NFL HC has proven equally tough for coaches.  The failure rate of NFL coordinators who become NFL head coaches is enormous.  So I don't put much stock in this thing about "lack of NFL experience."  NFL experience doesn't seem to make coordinators any more successful as head coaches than guys coming straight from college.

If you look at the teams that made the playoffs this year, 13 out of 14 had head coaches with NFL coaching experience prior to getting their current job.  If you also count playing in the NFL, all 14 had NFL experience.  Meyer doesn't.  NFL experience matters.

Promoting NFL coordinators was the most common method of having a playoff coach with 9 falling into that category.  3 were former NFL head coaches who were also previously either NFL coordinators or NFL assistant head coaches.  1 came directly from being a college head coach but had also previously been both an NFL head coach and an NFL coordinator for more than one team. 1 was a college coach with no NFL coaching experience.  The bottom line is that there's not one way to find a winning coach, but the numbers say promoting an NFL coordinator is the best option.

If you think this is just some one year fluke, it's not.  Let's look at history.  You have to go back 25 years to find the last time a team went to the Super Bowl with a head coach that had no NFL experience prior to getting that job.

I'm hoping for the best and I plan to get fully behind our new head coach.  However, based upon the track record, I can understand why some fans have concern.

If you look at the bottom feeders in head coach history, of course, the same is true. I've looked back over the head coaches that got their teams the first overall pick, and going back past 2000 they all had NFL experience.

You bitter Gator fans make me laugh. You sound like jilted lovers, lol.

Then it must be really funny to you that I hate the Gators and always have.

Urban is just a legit piece of [BLEEP].

I'm an Alabama fan and I would feel just as pissed off if they hired Nick Saban.

There's the NFL and there's college. Two separate entities. Success in college doesn't mean crap in the NFL.

Might as well hire Dabo Swinney since he made Urban his [BLEEP] every time they played.

Sure you're not a Gator fan. Listen, I get it. The Gators sucked for awhile after he left. It's human nature to blame him for that. There are legit reasons to question if Meyer was really the best choice. But none of that accounts for the vitriol you Gator fans are expressing.

LMAO.

Is that all you got? Seriously? I'm a closet Gator fan?

For real? lol

That's just sad. Urban sucks. He's a piece of [BLEEP] human being that doesn't deserve the accolades he's received for being a piece of [BLEEP] that allows human garbage on his team if it means a W... then running away when the authorities are on to him.

I sincerely apologize that my (and others) hatred of Urban goes beyond his being the coach of UF. I don't give a crap about that, my team made Tebow cry and made Urban quit the first time. I'm all good on that front lol.. and that's all it took for that weak piece of [BLEEP] to quit.. a loss.
Pete Carol was successful in college and the NFL. He was a cheater and a program wrecker but it did happen. I am hoping for franchise rebirth.

Pete Carroll had years and years of NFL experience. He knew what the NFL was.
Justin Fields just declared.. This board is going to need a bottle of xanax soon..

Why do call anyone who doesn't like the hire a Gator fan?  Lol, kinda weird.  Every year Mullen has been here he has had a better record the Meyer's last year here.  Meyer wasn't my first choice but Im good with the hire.  He won 2 championships at Florida so I don't know why you keep saying that lol
