Quote:Still not lucky. Was he the reason they won? No. But he did his job and did it well. That was to not turn it over and hand the ball over and let the defense win it.

Lucky would have been if he closed his eyes and threw it deep.
but he didnt do it well and he did turn the ball over. In the SB he had 0 tds and 1 int with 141 yrds passing
Quote:What's really telling her is how Belli has developed all those guys. Butler was a rookie FA I believe. No idea who Jamie Collins was. Sheard was average in Cleveland.

He takes players and actually develops them. Shocking I know.

Sheard had 21 sacks in 43 games on a bad Browns team whilst playing all over the line. He was a good player. Collins was one of the best most athletic LBs ever drafted.

Yeah BB has developed them a lot but I don't agree that the Pats as a whole are less talented than our team.
Some QBs just get hot at the right time. Flacco for example.
Quote:Sheard was a good player with the Browns.

Coaching does play a huge role in it but its still possible to see the talent.

Let's compare the Pats players to ours. Make your decision based on pure talent.

Here are mine.

Devin McCourtey>Gibson

Patrick Chung>Cyprien

Malcolm Butler>House

Jamie Collins>Telvin/Poz/Skuta

Donta Hightower>Telvin/Poz/Skuta

Jabal Sheard>Odrick

Who really knows just how much the coaching has affected player development? The two Pats LBs are clearly better now because they were coached by Belichick et al. but I wouldn't put them ahead of Telvin and Jack in natural talent. Same with Chung vs. Cyprien, they are about equally physically talented but three plus years under DeWayne Walker could cripple anyone's career. House is the Jags #3 CB, is Butler more talented than Ramsey? If Ramsey were drafted in 2013 he'd probably be called a bust, not a single DB has show any improvement under Walker.

Sheard plays a different position than Odrick.

Guys is the worst coach in NFL history. Any coach could do better than him.
people vastly overrate the talent on this team, but i understand at the same time they could surprise people given better coaches, playcalling, ect.

That's my point, he did literally nothing productive in that game that any other QB couldn't have done. His time was up, and I think Osweiler would have easily done that or better. Not saying Manning is bad or Osweiler is good, just saying given the circumstances. Manning made the right choice in retiring.

So because BB is a better coach it automatically means that the Patriots are less talented than us? Nah the Patriots are still the more talented team. Measure up that against our starters and tell me who on the Pats D would start for us.

So Manning is now lucky to have won a SB?

I knew someone on this board would spin it this way, just was surprised it wasn't earlier. Clearly that's exactly what I said. /s

Actually no I'll go ahead and say yes having a stat line of 0 TD 1 INT 141 YDS/P he was lucky to have won a SB.

It's not spinning anything.

I said that you don't luck into Super Bowls. Then you brought up Manning as a rebuttal. Did you just bring Manning up as a random factoid or did you mean he was lucky to have won the SB?

No, and because the Pats defenders are playing better doesn't mean they are more talented either. Because Belichick is different than Bradley you can't make a reasonable judgement as to who's players are naturally more talented.

The Jags defenders have never shown improvement, the Pats defenders have, so you can make a reasonable judgement as to which coaching staff is more capable.

Do you think Earl Thomas is more talented than Gibson?

Yes. I assume you're talking about Gipson? I also think that McCourty is more talented. But it's just an opinion when we're talking about natural talent. Coaching can build on a player's natural skills ... or coaching can fail to build.

And DeWayne Walker wasn't the Seahawks DB coach.

Same thang. So you think Earl Thomas is more talented than Gipson? How can we be sure when Thomas has had a great coach in Pete Carroll coaching and Gipson has had bad coach's?

I don't think Pete Carroll is a great coach, but that's just me. I mean... passing instead of handing it off to Lynch?
Watching the pats and tinhorns game. That is coaching. We have a coaching problem...
After checking out the Patriots tonite I'm more convinced than ever that Gus Bradley is the worst coach of all time.
All you have to do is look at New England, 3rd string no name QB, 20-0 Pats. Good coaching pays off.
