Well, though it took us many years to finally hit rock bottom, we appear to have done it at exactly the right time. One of the most promising things to me going forward is the end of the tanking mentality. From here on, we win as many games as we can win, even if it’s a rough season.  We don’t need to root for losses, as we have our franchise quarterback. Nothing else is worth tanking for. Also, I fully anticipate we won’t be close to the bottom of the pack for quite a while.
I don't know.. That punter out of Ga Tech looks pretty enticing.
Go back and watch the product the last couple of years. Those players were not good enough to tank.

Agreed.  The team was awful.  The guys didn't intentionally tank.  They just sucked.

It’s a really great time to be a Jaguars fan. I see Lawrence being what Peyton Manning was for Indy and what Andrew Luck was for Indy. What Drew Brees was for New Orleans, what Dan Marino was for Miami, Kurt Warner for Arizona, etc.

I can’t wait to get my Lawrence jersey!
The way Meyer has treated the rest of the non Tlaw offseason makes me think he might want to go for one more tankish season. Not full tank since we obviously got the QB part out of the way, but he definitely didn't go for the gold in FA. Perhaps he wants one more draft of high picks next year before really putting his foot on the gas.

I think it's more the reality that the odds of winning a Super Bowl with a rookie QB are very low. Burn the cap on elite free agents next year after Trevor has gotten his feet wet. No need to teach him how to drive with a Mustang. Give him the old beater first.

Good analogy!  Let him train with the ford Focus this year and then give him the Ferrari next!
I think we go big in FA next season.
Our team NEVER Tanked in my opinion.

NH3....
I remain cautiously optimistic. There are so many variables to this supposed slam dunk success; new FO, new unexperienced coach, new unproven QB, new coaching staff. I expect nothing outside of growth this season along with the accompanying trials and travails. There are also going to be many times when all of it is in doubt, and there's always the possibility these promising components don't click together.

I will watch, wait, hope, and not be fully surprised if success doesn't happen. It will certainly not happen immediately.

Fingers crossed.

You don't tank when you know if you don't win, you won't be back the next year.

And then leaving a bunch of footage of you sucking for other teams to look at
Not sure if anyone watched the Bengals games last season but they were competitive in most of their games with Joe Burrow at QB but couldn't finish in the 4th quarter due to their young and inexperienced team. Absent the wins, there was a significant improvement with that team. I kind of foresee the same with the Jags this season but we may be in better shape since our division sucks.

Honestly that's sort of where this team was last year.  It played very well in spots but couldn't close.
Tanking is not a thing.

Did you not notice how many people got fired and lost millions of dollars?
Fans route for tanking. And honestly we weren't winning with how bad the coaching, front office, game plan, etc.

My standards are really low and my expectations are realistic. We know we will see progress when it happens. I wasn't looking for wins but wanted to see a franchise building up.

The best we had in years is a one year wonder team that showed to be an elite defense with a dime storm offense. We hoped they would improve but the evidence was against that team.
the team didn't tank last year, and thier is lots of talent on the team still. the problom was the HC and his loseing attudtuide. will myer be susscufual in the nfl, that we will wait, and see.

we do know if the myer who coached in college shows up in the nfl we got a winner, and he players loseing attudtuides will turn into winning ones.

Myer could turn out to be a bust as well as trevor. we really won't know anything until at least pre-season games are played.

In the meantime I am with homebiscuit except i won't cross my fingers thats bad luck when i cross my fingers.

I will remain hopeful ,watch the games and for the most part see the start of a franchise turning around.

Not excepting tons of wins this year, but at least 1 more then last.  if jags go 2-15 its a slight improvement, hopefuly they win more then 2 games.

I'm setting expections low for this season at least cause everyone on staff is new from HC and so on.

im not saying thats all jags will win, just setting the bar low for this first season with newness.

I think for me, while I never suspected the team was literally trying to lose, we had been in a position for a while without much of a chance to win (except for 2017). I feel like there was a sense among the fans that we had no shot at doing anything significant, and therefore we were all mostly rooting for the number one pick. I did not like having to watch the team and root against them, but I am very glad we got this number 1 pick. From here out, hopefully the days of the mentality (hoping for losses) is over.
