I think you're wrong. This year should be about building the offense. If the defense can't stop anyone it doesn't affect the young QB. If no one can block and catch, that does affect the young QB.
A few WR we all know that did it after 30 and had success. Julio still has something left in the tank IMO... For a 4th yes all day.
Keyshawn Johnson did it. w/ Cowboys 32 years old.
Joey Galloway did it - 33
Terrell Owens did it - 31 w/ Philly

Aside from the above, WR is a position of relative strength for us, while we have a bunch of other areas of weakness. One of the last things we'd need is to spend a 2nd round pick on an older, expensive, injury prone guy who'll likely be here only a year or two at best. If you want another receiver, draft another receiver and let him grow with TL.
No way. The Jaguars will likely draft a receiver in rounds 2 or 3. That would give them 3 talented young receivers (Chark and Shennault + rookie) to grow together with Lawrence. Why reduce their playing time for a guy who will be way past his prime in 2-3 years when the Jaguars are likely to become the best team in the AFC South and a perennial playoff contender.
If I wanted to throw money at a player over 30, it would be at offensive tackle. Someone like Russell Okung would give Lawrence much more peace of mind when dropping back to pass. He could also teach the other players about bitcoin so they could make more money and improve the locker room atmosphere! Happy players=better performance.
I wouldn’t even give a 4th for Julio. We tried this with Holt before. There are guys that played well after 31 to 32 years old but with our new QB I’m good with what we have at WR.
With a rookie QB we’re going to need a better defense. By the way, it’s not like our guys can’t catch the football. And our offensive line is fine. A great QB will make the line look better.

What do you think I am wrong on ? You build an offense around an average QB. With an elite QB the offense is built.
Peyton Manning put a lot of money in guys pockets like Eric Decker, Julius Thomas, Brandon Stokley, Zane Beadles, etc. These are all just guys. Lawrence is gonna be just fine with Pro Bowler Chark and All Purpose Shenault instead of 32 year old Julio Jones.

Urban caring about defense is coach speak lol. Ever watch any of his teams? His philosophy is get " good enough" on defense, stack the offense with play makers and then go out and outscore 'em. Pretty simple

So you spend picks and cash on Julio, that means either Marvin or Chark are losing snaps, you develop timing and familiarity with the guy, and in a year or two, he's gone and you get to start all over again with the process.
If there is only one position on this team where we can say we are not desperate for help, it would be WR. If Julio could bulk up and play LT, I'm all for dealing.

We just brought in two new WR, and there is still the possibility that we darft a guy. How many guys you want to bring in before we realize we are squeezing out the future at the position?
Did David Carr wash out because he didn't have a once-great WR? Which great QB ever attributed their successful career to a season (or two) with a WR in the twilight of their career?
