They sure as heck are doing everything to win now.  I'm wondering how long they can use this strategy and what the ultimate downfall of this strategy is in a few years when they need to rebuild.  They did have to dump a few players this year so we shall see if that has any negative impact.

Never build your team around a CB.  Never.  We're talking about CB, not a QB.  A CB.  And one who, though good, is a legend in his own mind.
The bill will come due for the Rams salary cap soon, and when they start losing it will be delightful to see Ramsey stuck in a losing locker room and again, and watching what shenanigans he might pull to force a release or trade
As a player, Ramsey was/is outstanding.  As an individual willing to go all out for a team goal, not so much.  Would I have wanted him in my unit while I was in the army - no.

But I learned one thing, pout to get your way and any back pains you have will be magically cured.

I'd argue that Super Bowl winning teams in recent years with known above-average defenses had All-Pro level CB/S play. They just got it at discount rate. Like Pats with Talib, Pats with Gilmore, Seahawks with Legion of Boom on rookie deals, that Denver team with Harris early in his career, etc. Though if your team is more offense-centric like the Chiefs or Miracle Eagles run, then elite CB is not a requirement.

So basically, yes if you have to pay market rate for elite CB play, it won't be worth it. But if you can get it off rookie deal or players who were miscast on other teams, then it is a great investment.

What I also noticed about those teams are the QB. This is a QB driven league. If you got a good one then you can make moves good or bad and still be good.

I do think teams that have to win based on defense typically have short windows, whereas a great QB gives teams a low floor, and therefore an extended window. We saw that short window with the Broncos past Super Bowl win, and also with our own team in 2017.

Good point. JDR window was like that as well. Man that all in draft for pass rushers was a heck of a disaster.
The Derrick Harvey and Groves draft was a disaster but I commend Del Rio for having the guts to do something like that.

Biggest move Up or trade up in team history and it will probably never be surpassed.

What's crazy is we only gave up 26, 2 3rds and a 4th to go from 26 to 8.  To move up 18 spots in the first and only give up what we gave up is pretty impressive imo regardless if it worked or not.

Yes, that was a bargain in terms of raw compensation.

But it was somewhat Faustian considering the Ravens wound up getting a Super Bowl winning QB out of it (Flacco) and we were stuck with Garrard, which led to Gabbert...and Bortles...and Minshew...and Luton...
