I believe that anyone who is ashamed of being from the country they represent, should be sent home.

An absolute disgrace.
Frankly, I am more surprised the hammer throw is an actual.sport.

Seriously though, think about a bronze medal winner grandstanding an actual winner who is proud of her country.

Unfortunately we are beginning to see the result of children raised in modern liberal households.

It depends on why they are protesting.
no it doesn't -- she embarrassed herself and our country. Nothing about what she did was acceptable. I can't Imagine being one of her parents right now -- disgusting behavior.

Agreed. If this was any other sports event and people want to protest, whatever, but these are the Olympic Trials. This is a whole different ballgame. You are there to represent this country and if you throw shade at the nation you represent on such a grand stage, you have no business being there. Why even participate in the U.S. Olympic trials if you think it's so bad here? Olympic rules are pretty lax when it comes to which country you can represent. Just go back in your family tree and represent some country your ancestors were from. I've seen that done several times. As a U.S. citizen, I don't want anyone representing us that behaves like they hate our country. They can go somewhere else.
3rd place finisher upstages winner for attention by throwing temper tantrum claiming oppression bull [BLEEP].

I predict Nike will sign an endorsement deal with her. Hate America is a hot seller right now.
I think they need to quit playing the Anthem. It is clear that a high percentage of athlete's hate America, and a high percentage of Americans agree with them. Why are they even putting us through this spectacle anymore? America is not the country it once was, and we should stop pretending there's enough consensus to perform rituals like the Anthem anymore.

It's a chunk of land with a Government now. People like me, flying the flag with pride , getting choked up during the Anthem? We're still around in big numbers. But we're a subculture. We're the out group. We will work to preserve our way of life, but it's a joke and a lie that the athlete culture is like that.

I disagree that a high percentage of Americans agree with them. The MSM and social media amplify the minority.

It will take some type of "event" to unite the country unfortunately.

This is literally a representation of the United States, there's not many places that it's more appropriate to play the Anthem.
Seems out of place given the direction that our country has gone over the past 5 months.
America... A country so great even the people who hate it refuse to leave......

What happened to that thread you started yesterday with the base64 encoded string?

Oh, I agree. Objectively speaking, it's a great tradition. But in reality, a high percentage of athletes hate America. And a high percentage of Americans defend them when they spit on the country. So it's better to table this practice than to experience a ritual flogging of our country at each sporting event.

I think it is a high percentage. Not a majority, mind you. But a big chunk. A majority love the country, love the flag, and hate to see this kind of thing.

But the hallways of power -- the administrative government, the media, the universities, the public schools, the big corporations, etc. -- have adopted a woker power--recipe that is conformist in its thinking. And that conformist thinking requires praise and acceptance of ritual denunciations of America. The sub-culture that is the "out group" is huge, but it does not control America.

You touched upon things -- I've come to believe two things that I did not used to think were true. One, national elections matter -- it will take a Reagan-like dynasty (DeSantis?) to turn the tide of the culture. (Trump was a foreshadowing echo, a statement that America needs to change course). Two, I'm not sure renewal of the country can happen apart from Christian revival. I used to believe they were separate things. But looking at all ancient, medieval, and modern civilizations -- there's a common theme of birthrates, high esteem for their own culture, and a religious faith that unifies them. China is trying this with a sort of chi-comm nationalist/fascist recipe. The next 500 years are likely the ascendancy of Asian civilization. But it's hard to figure where America fits because we're so huge and so chock-full of good families.
All this manufactured outrage. The RATS have been successful in convincing millions of people that blacks are oppressed and or maligned. Must be nice to have the lying media on your side while you perpetuate lies and myths for political power. REALITY is no longer acceptable.
So why was she protesting? Why is not one talking about that?
Are you denying that POC have suffered discrimination? They feel this is a turning point in American society, and they’re correct. Their problem is using this momentum as a nexus to justify more hate. I understand the frustration and resentment, but they’re overplaying their hand. It’ll burn itself out eventually.

I have experienced discrimination. Everyone has, its not institutionalized nor is it widespread. And it hasn't been for a long time. I AM OVER IT!!!!
