Malik was our highest-graded player on defense yesterday, according to PFF, for what it's worth.

As a side note, it's interesting that PFF actually praised the play of the OL, said it graded very well in pass protection.  Four of our top five offense players according to PFF were on the OL.  Can you guess which member of the OL did not make the top five?

Quote:Pretty sure literally nothing has been called in our favor these first 2 games. The officiating bias that has went on against us in these first 2 games, has been borderline criminal.

Yup.  I think we would have beat Green Bay by 2 TDs if that game was called fairly.  And yesterday every single time the Jags started to do something good the yellow flag would fly.

the one that got ran over by a safety at one point?
Bradley mentioned (media conference call) that the team "got good interior pressure" from Malik Jackson, so it seems definite that reports of his benching are greatly exaggerated.

He played on 3rd downs in the second half, so i'm not sure about the "benching" rumors.
Quote:Should have drafted Leonard Williams instead of signing Malik and signed Olivier Vernon instead of drafting Fowler. Can't help but think our line would be better with that combo than what we presently have.

No matter who we drafted, we'd be in the same position. This defensive scheme or the way Gus wants it ran, does not work! We need to either go to a regular 3-4 or a conventional 4-3 scheme. This hybrid thing isn't getting any better.

I listened to the radio broadcast after watching the game. When the second half opened, the crew speculated and wondered if he had been benched, because he wasn't out there (Sheldon Day was playing 3-technique). That's probably how these rumors got started.
Hmmmm....is this all part of "The Process"?  :turned:

Whether he was out there or not... he was non existent like the rest of the defense. Lots of guys have come to Jacksonville for a paycheck and never produced anything upon arrival... Jackson could be one of the many. We'll see...

Quote:Then Jarrad Davis in 2nd round. Peppers at SS and Jarrad Davis at Sam.Problems solved

Jarrad is disgusting. He to me is the exciting play to watch that Fowler was when he was at UF his last year.

Like someone said, whether it be Davis or Peppers or both, this coach would have them playing something different entirely or not playing at all.

Did you read the thread?
The OL graded out well on pass blocking because they did that well.  Bortles had a decent pocket to work with all day.  Were there a few breakdowns?  Of course you don't get beat that badly and throw picks and fumble without there being some break downs.  My problem with the line is the run blocking is really bad.  There are no holes.

San Diego put out a spotlight on whipping the Jaguars Offense.  Will this team adjust or just keep banging its head against the wall doing the same things?  Based on what we have seen out of the coaching staff, I'm thinking they are going to impose their will on our team and continue to be inept.

EDIT:

Posting in response to the stats 3 posts before this one.  I don't know what the deal is with some of our players and these rumors.

yep. It's all over the place.

I understand the need to rotate and keep legs fresh and what not but the best players need to be on the field in the right situations.

Any 3rd and long, we need to match the amount of wr with the same amount of CB. Can't have Poz (who shouldn't be in on passing downs when you have Jack on the bench) being ask to keep up with receivers whether that's in man or zone.

The scheme is busted as is the philosophy within the scheme.

PFF is trash. Plain and simple.

I tried to listen to that and I just couldn't listen to his voice anymore. He's starting to overuse the term " explosive plays" and it's getting old fast.
