The Jacksonville Jaguars are claiming Tyron Johnson off waivers from #Chargers, per source. they have the top priority and are using it.
Well if Urban wanted speed, he got it.
No brainer on that one
Since it's been a drool fest over the guy the past 24 hours, I will post this as a counterbalance. We definitely got the speed we covet, but we might have also gotten a player who struggles with the small stuff.

Well he did get cut for a reason. No player who got cut is a perfect prospect.

That's for sure; can't expect the next Jerry Rice to be let go. However, when it comes to possible upside Tyron Johnson could be a home-run pick. He is young and has proven he can be a deep ball threat. That should open up things for Chark, Jones and Shenault. Hopefully, experience will help him with the "small stuff," but you can't coach speed. He is a way better prospect than the receivers they cut.

With Chark/Johnson taking the top off with the speed, it should really let Shenault do some damage on the shorter routes.
IMO, he automatically becomes the team's 4th receiver. He isn't gonna impress anyone with his route running, but he has elite straight line speed. Put him out there with D.J. Chark and let Lawrence sling it around. We know both guys can get deep.
Is anyone else concerned about there only being one waiver wire claim by the team thus far.

Yes.  My thought exactly.  Does this mean he was the only claim we made?  If so, that's disappointing.

Yes, I am surprised with only one claim thus far.  I am hoping the reason is some of the targets are veterans that are not subject to the waiver process and are not agreeing as yet to other practice squads.

We just refuse to address the TE situation. Hopefully they are working out a contract with Hollister. Really wish we could pry njoku away from Cleveland. He's just wasting away there.
Maybe a few of those late rounds picks to trade for someone in mind?

Very much so. I can't believe we didn't put in a claim for a TE or a RB. I'm not thrilled with any of our TE's. I'm hoping we add either Hollister or Rodgers, because the unit we have now doesn't scare anyone. We also already lost one RB that we were counting on this year and he wasn't really replaced. Am I the only one that is very uncomfortable with Hyde and Ogunbowale as our top backups? Starting RB's take a lot of punishment and I really pray Robinson stays healthy. I have zero confidence in his backups. I think Meyer is blinded by his former association with Hyde. Personally, I would put in a waiver for Royce Freeman. He was just waived today by the Broncos. He's a bruiser, but he also ran a 4.54/40 in college. I'd easily take him over Hyde and Ogunbowale.

As far as I can tell, this is the only claim we made.

It would be disappointing, because there are some guys out there who could help us immediately.

I am still stuck on Tyrell Crosby.

He played under Bevell the past two years in Detroit.  Bevell saw his progression from year one to year two.  He is a starting caliber RT.  If we signed him, he'd automatically upgrade RT.  He is familiar with some of the protections Bevell had.  His signing here would enable Little to stay at LT if the team wanted him to be the long term starter there.  Now I heard he was waived/injured.  But the Lions observers I've seen don't seem to think he's injured particularly seriously, and one suggested the team could have put him on the short term IR and bring hm back later.

Aside from that, UM is high on his LBs, but Pernell McPhee and Bernardrick Mckinney would be assets in our 3-4 scheme.  Both are older, but both would upgrade their positions.

We also knoe TE is a huge need, and there are some decent guys available.

We also didn't sign many UDFA after the draft.

I could understand turning up our noses at the waiver wire if this were already a contending team with a top tier roster.  But this is a team coming off of a 1-15 record.  You can't convince me only one guy cut/waived can help this team.

It doesn't make much sense to me.
Guess Urban, the coaches, & FO feel we’re only one player away from the SB.
Idjits.

Crosby would be a good addition and is only going to be 26. I have to believe they are pursuing a tight end- possibly Tolliver. Running back is not as big a concern since Ozigbo can be promoted from the practice squad; he has proven to be a very capable player during the pre-season.
So we claimed a guy at one of our deepest positions and...that's it?

After cuts, we were down to 5 guys, and 3 of them are injured.
Watching his highlights I have 2 takeaways:

1. He could be a very exciting player
2. Herbert has a damn rocket for an arm.
