Remember when CNN used to report on weather events as well as US and Global news that people actually cared about --- maybe that was in the 80's or so? CNN used to make people smarter and globally educated. Now they just make everyone dumber (as do the other 2 main stream networks - FOX and MSNBC). I know it's a pipedream but I sure wish CNN would get back to actual news reporting.

I don't recall Toria. I do recall Bernard Shaw. Also liked Wolf Blitzer reporting from the Iraqi War in the early 90s.

The problem is:
-Opinion is considered fact these days so "just the facts ma'am" is no longer relevant.
-The news media only reports the parts of the actual facts that fit their agenda. If nothing fits they simply don't report it.
-They stir the pot to get people riled up. They also stir it to make something out of nothing.
-They outright lie. Rittenhouse and Sandman are two perfect examples.
These are just off the top of my head and covers all media sources from all sides.

I appreciated his reporting as well.
Christiane Amanpour is someone else I remember early in the OIF campaign. She was the first "real" female journalist I remember. Real as opposed to Katie Couric and all the "puff piece" ladies.
