He's a naive dreamer who wants to be taken seriously as a thinker. Since he's only slightly above average in intelligence (not a dig), he depends heavily on the intelligencia to inform his positions. The problem is his ability to CRITICALLY think about topics is subpar, so he doesn't appropriately challenge the narrative coming out of those circles. Therefore, Mike is often duped by those he's trusting to educate him. You don't seem dissimilar to me.
And this makes you look worse than Mike.
A pompous know it all who comes on the Jags message board to “educate” everyone else because he doesn’t have a job. Get over yourself.
I hate to break it to you, but you need to be educated. If you're not taking the time to look into various new sources, read actual scientific studies, and learn the genuine history, politics, and philosophical underpinnings of the movements of our era, you are woefully under informed. Period. And, instead of posturing, maybe you should humble yourself and look into some of these things I post here.
Look, I get it... I had time to do this, and you didn't. I actually have a job now that my kids are in school full time. I completely understand why the working class is unable to stay properly educated. I think I've been able to sit down and read one study since I started 3 months ago. It sucks. I find myself looking at headlines more and more to gauge the news, but I know that people who do that aren't getting anywhere near the data they need to make informed decisions. That's you, and, quite frankly, I don't care if you think that's pompous. It's facts.
I did not insult Mike's intelligence. I questioned his ability to think outside the narrative and gave the reason I believe that to be true, which he basically confirmed with his follow up post. He is a smart dude. I like him. I would hang out with him again in a minute. Truth be told, I don't think he's nearly as bad IRL as he is on this board, but know this: There's not a single thing I would say on this board that I wouldn't say to his face. Mike desperately wants to be accepted into the intelligencia. This affects his ability to push back against their bad ideas. It's not pompous to say that. It's pretty obvious.
And Mike, I don't care who is smarter than anyone. It's irrelevant to me. I wouldn't feel inadequate if other people are smarter than me. Admittedly, I feel kind of useless when I run into someone smarter than me, but it's not a blow to my ego or anything. The reality is that most people who are highly intelligent will end up in niche areas, anyways, so there is almost always something to learn. I tend to form lifelong friendships with really smart people and look forward to sharing information and ideas. What I don't do, is get into a pissing contest with them to show them who's smarter. My beef with you is not your intelligence; it's your unwillingness to confront your own limitations which leads to pretentiousness.
The problem with Ivy Leaguers is the status that gets associated with intelligence (which becomes even more convoluted by wealth), and that's all [BLEEP]. But, again, it speaks to why I believe you try so hard to present yourself that way.
