Jan. 6 Defendant Takes His Own Life, Died Of ‘Broken Heart,’ Family Says

Matthew L. Perna, a Pennsylvania man prosecuted for his 20-minute walk through the U. S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, took his own life on Feb. 25 due to “a broken heart” and a justice system that “killed his spirit and his zest for life,” his family said.

"20 minute walk through the US Capitol".  Yes, and OJ was just taking a walk to Nicole's house the night she died.  Both willingly went to their destinations with criminal purpose.
Dumb.

Political protest is not a crime, but this persecution of the citizenry should be.

Yet at the same time Hurricane's response to an ANTIFA "protestor" throwing a molotov cocktail at a Government building..

"Just exercising his right to protest"

Did you see the video of this guy in the building? He walked in, walked around, walked out. At best his actions were trespassing, though even that is debatable. Call this what it is, the chilling of opposing political speech by the Party in power. And remember this when the other Party is in control and starts doing the same thing right back. Then you'll wonder how we got here.

It’s totally normal they both thought about a brutal murder in comparison.

Did he know what he was doing was illegal?  Did he notice the people breaking windows in order to get inside?  Did he notice the pitched battle between police and the rioters who were trying to get into the Capitol?

And, "remember this when the other Party is in control and starts doing the same thing right back"???  I would say the same thing.  Would you think it's okay for Biden supporters to fight their way through police barricades in order to invade the Capitol and stop the certification of the election if Trump won?

If we start calling breaking into the Capitol to stop a Constitutionally mandated certification of an election, "political speech," then we are definitely headed to the dumpster.

All I know is Democrats have invaded the Capital and shut down the government several times before and they weren't even given a ticket. Now we have proven invocation of violence by government plants at a political protest and the Jackboots are persecuting every person they can remotely tie to the incident no matter how, like this guy, trivial the participation actually was. And who are we kidding, Republicans are too scared and lazy to ever play these games with their opposition so my comment is a moot point.

I remember when those Pink morons blockaded, of all people's offices, Nancy Pelosi..

I mean... really? The only crazy liberal in Washington and their complaint was she wasn't crazy enough. Funny stuff.
He knew what he was doing was illegal to say the least.

It was? How so? Is it illegal to walk in an open door at the Capital? Illegal to stand on the correct side of the velvet ropes? To take pictures? They have video of the whole 20 minutes he was inside and it doesn't show him doing anything disruptive. He didn't damage anything, didn't steal anything, didn't even run inside the building. The video of his entrance is also timed at more than half an hour after Congress had adjourned, so how did his presence inside disrupt their proceeding? Basically the entire criminal filing is, according to the persecutors, an "attempt to deter domestic terrorism", the domestic terrorism of protesting your government from the wrong side of the aisle, and that makes this a political persecution.

He pleaded guilty.

Now, are you saying he did not see people fighting with the police?  140 police officers were injured in the riot.  Did he not understand that he was trespassing?  Was he not there with the purpose of disrupting a government proceeding by force?

You also say, "The video of his entrance is also timed at more than half an hour after Congress had adjourned, so how did his presence inside disrupt their proceeding?"  Are you saying the proceeding was over, and that Congress had all gone home?  That isn't true.  The rioters stopped the Congress in the middle of certifying the election.  They were adjourned for more than 6 hours while order was restored and the place was cleaned up.  You make it sound like he just walked in as a tourist, when the facts, and his signed confession, show that he knew what he was doing.  Read it:

He also says in his confession that at one point, he became frustrated and, using a metal pole, in his words, "tapped on a window of the Capitol building."  Tapped?  Really?

They were injured? By what?

Physical violence?

Or falling on broken glass?

DC cops are notorious cowards - like soldiers during Vietnam that would shoot a rock and let the shrapnel hit them and then get awarded the purple heart... ahem.. John Kerry...

Oh wow, a signed confession from a political prisoner. Color me impressed.

Ok, so a misdemeanor trespassing charge should get him no jail time. Should his life be destroyed because he you don't like Trump? Nothing happens to people who have destroyed buildings and other property but for those who walked inside an open door in a building we pay taxes for they should be locked up forever, blackballed from being hired, and smeared as being a white supremacists.

I'm not sure that Such Rheteric is entertainable, BUT let's start with his/their intentions BEFORE they stepped foot out of their home let alone boarding an flight to the destination. The fact that he/they entered an GOVERNMENT building to which they over ran Capital Police Barriers, Capital Police, Shimmied the Capital walls, broke out the Capital windows and broke down the Capital doors to gain entrance to the Government Capital Bldg. says the least.

He knew what he was doing. He was a grown man. He got caught up in being an Trumpster. No disrespect BUT he/they were summoned by JA45, they responded and now he/they have to face the consequences. Where's JA45 now w/respect to helping ALL of the offenders? JA45 could care less about any of them. He's next by the way.
