The only way this is good is if Pederson has final say on the roster. This public stance of Baalke and Pederson making decisions together is bogus. No organization can function by consensus alone.

And those starters might be the only ones if he’s left to run future drafts.

In response to some of the posts in this thread, I would make this point: If someone says they intend to do something, and then they change their mind, that doesn't make them a liar.
We do a lot of demonizing on this forum, whether it's Trent Baalke, or Shad Khan, but I think we're getting a little full of ourselves here. Trent Baalke is not an evil person. The worst thing we can say about him is that he has a track record of looking out for his own interests, but who among us does not do that every day? As for Shad Khan, he's the owner of this team, and he doesn't have to leave it here in Jacksonville, but he has. And if we don't support this team, we won't have a team.
So I am just saying, for God's sake, LIGHTEN UP! And for some of you, if this team is making you unhappy, go find another hobby.

To this I Concur. We all have a choice and even though some of us feels that the team does, our team owned by Shad Khan doesn't owe us anything. Yes we need our team to positively produce on the field but continually getting beside yourselves won't help either.
On another note for our Jaguar Fans, Tony Khan was the driving force w/respect to hiring our new HC. He also has taken over the search for a team EVP so the process has rebooted to say the least. Tony is becoming the Owner's Face of Our Jaguars. CLOWNING on our team has no merit. We'll get there in due time w/o living in the past. Let's see whom else can be Optimistic.
Time Will Tell.

I'l wait to see what actually happens in free agency and the draft before getting too concerned.
We gathered some good coaches. Let's see what influence they really have on front office decisions between now and September.

This franchise has not earned any benefit of the doubt. In fact, they've earned hardcore scrutiny for every single minute deal they make or even consider making.
The Patriots have earned reporters going, well let's wait and see. The Jaguars? They look and act like kindergartners introduced to big boy things for the first time. Jacksonville is a pathetic franchise run by morons. And until they prove otherwise they will and SHOULD be treated as such.

This is what I was saying yesterday in the free agency thread.
Pederson's rep changes things.
There will still be some free agents that aim for "already built" rather than "rebuilding," but we aren't going to be merely picking up scrap, bottom-tier free agents. They'll probably land a couple of guys from tier one.

I'm tired of supporting a losing team with a terrible owner that shows no interest in winning. If we're gonna continue down the same path over and over with things never changing or getting better, because the owner is an unmotivated, snake oil salesman, he can take his team and leave.
You sound like one of those apathetic fans who just wants to have a team, no matter how bad it is. Khan is counting on fans like you to fill his pockets. He never has to be held accountable as long as he has fans like you that he can scam into supporting this team.

How long are we supposed to wait in order to even be a .500 team? It's been over 10 years since Shad Khan has bought the team and in those 10 seasons we've had one year with a winning record and a dismal 42-119 overall record. We haven't even won half as many games as we have lost! What in God's name is there to be optimistic about? Khan deceived fans into thinking he was finally gonna make a positive move, only to change his mind. Any way you look at it that is deception and manipulation. He deserves to be clowned and much worse.

While I'm certainly skeptical that top tier FAs want to come here (because this franchise has been a dumpster fire), I'm also trying to be a little optimistic. I've been pretty down in this team the last 4 years or so because they have done just about everything wrong. But I like Trevor, I like Pederson and I'm hoping that starts the turn around.

I do too, but I'm just saying they have no chance to succeed with roadblocks in their way, that Khan refuses to move. I am so passionate about this, because we've never had a franchise QB in the history of this team and now that we finally might have one, we're gonna ruin him before he even has a chance to develop.

Not really pessimism.
Just a realization that without consequence there will never be change.
And Pederson got fired with no fanfare.. just a big F-U from Philly.

Looking out for your own self-interests is a double edged sword. If he is looking out for himself by making solid draft picks, wise FA signings and is a team player in order to elevate himself and his position, then I think we are all for it. If he's taking the road of throwing others under the bus and working behind others back to their detriment to elevate his position, then he can take that same road right out of town. We'll see which one he chooses, I guess, but the point others have made is well taken. This franchise has already been though enough losing and dysfunction; its hard to watch more of it potentially developing while we as fans just sit and watch in disgust. And while the owner can certainly take his product where ever he chooses, while he's in a city, he should be trying to do the best he can to improve the product for the fans who pay money to consume that product. If he produced bumpers with the same quality that he runs this franchise, then he would have been sued out of business a long time ago. Hopefully, Pedersen can use the same tactics he used to overcome the dysfunction in Philly and succeed here.

But if somone says they WILL do something - as Khan said in the press conference - and then shows very little effort in doing it, then says "gee I've changed my mind" . . . that sounds like lying to me.
Khan's willful stubborness in refusing to listen to the entire world with regards to Baalke, including the team's fans (read that as, his customers), offers me no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt. I think this was planned from the time they had the press conference. Make promises, let things cool down, then "change our minds" and hope the fans just accept it.
I think we've been conned - or should I say "khanned".
As much as I like Pederson as the head coach, I'm a little disgusted in him for taking part in this farce.
And so we will have another cycle of Baalke's patented "value player" free agency signings and draft, with a focus on injured players.
I hope they prove me wrong. I hope they get some awesome, marquee linemen, an edge rusher or WRs in free agency. I hope they draft players that aren't broken because they're value picks. Based on observations of past performance, however, I have little faith that will happen.
