Fowler plays out of control. He ran I there one time and just spun for no reason. The tackle just stood him up. Fowler had no clue where the ball was.

I've been saying this too. Gus wants Caldwell to bring in need players when we could get talent and adjust the scheme to maximize their skills.

Fowler is going to require schemes to be effective. He's a one trick pony he's a speed guy. If they square up on him he's out of the play.

Rodgers makes teams with average-good pass rush look stupid, what'd you think he was gonna do with a team that is just developing a pass rush?


Heck he made plays when we did get to him and with our guy in the process of tackling him

almost looks like if that had not been a twist (is that right?) and Jones just bulls into the RG that fowler swims right around the RT with a beeline to Rodgers. 

Fowler's a strong side linebacker more so than a DE. He has the tools to be a good pass rusher but if that doesn't work out he definitely has a future at SLB.

The above is how Fowler is going to have to "win" in 1 on 1 pass rush situation, quickness, speed to power, and hand usage. He doesn't have the flexibility and bend to consistently turn the corner against some of the leagues better tackles, once he learns to use his hands (think Olivier Vernon) he'll be a force off the edge.

 Rookie/ 1st playing season DEs like Bubba Baker and Jevon Kearse don't come around often.

 

 In some cases,  a rookie DE will look promising but hits the rookie wall. 

 

 In some other cases,  a rookie DE will get off to a slow start in the regular season but hit his stride later in the season.    That might prove to be the case with Dante Fowler Jr. ,  especially as he's further away from the torn ACL he suffered 16 months ago.

He can play DE, he just needs to get stronger and use his quickness/speed/hands in pass rush situations. He'll never be Von Miller but he has a chance to be a 8-10 sack/year guy.

I disagree.  We should totally write off the pass rush.  After all, it's been one whole game.
