Baalke can't take all the blame or credit because Pederson highly endorses this free agent group.

Also Baalke says they got all their target players.

Me too.
We certainty went for the lucky dip and got a mixed bag of lollies
I wasn't thrilled with the signings, but after being the worst team in the NFL two years in a row, it's time to try a different approach.
I think outside of Kirk and Zay Jones contracts, I really like it. Still wish AR15 would come back.. but can't see it happening now.

Outside of being somewhat bias towards one of my favorite jags... I figured him to maybe be the Alshon Jefferey type if you will, that Pederson snagged early in his Eagles days.
It will be a lot of fun to see how this mixes in with the draft and also last seasons rookies.
I really liked the signings of Scherff, Oluokun, Engram and Williams.

A couple of things I picked up from that article:

Baalke said Linder's future is still uncertain, and that the two of them had a conversation about it.  That tells me they are trying to restructure his contract.  If they can't do that, I would expect he would be released.

He also said they're working on a long term deal with Cam.  That tells me that there's a possibility they can't reach an agreement, and Cam gets released.   If Cam gets released, LT is back in play for pick #1.

But if they haven't released either of those guys as of now, then they are already under the cap because the new league year started yesterday.
The online needs to be impeccably good. Stack that online talent
Hard not to be thrilled as a fan. They had clear, cut needs. They clearly went out and did everything they could on the day the market opened up to address them. I am usually pessimistic but I am a little bit more optimistic this time around.

I really feel like the local fanbase did enough late last year with the complaints and rumblings that maybe Khan actually felt something needed to be done for once. It's been five years since a winning effort was produced and the fallout from all of that resulted in just four wins over the last two years.

Something had to give. Thankfully the message was received. Baalke basically went out in a put up or shut up situation and he put up. He still has the draft next month to add onto a strong free agency class. Can't fault him at all in 2022. Again, if he was wrong about the majority of these signings then virtually the majority of all of the major MSM sports outlets were also wrong.

It's essentially setting the table for it all to ultimately fall on Lawrence's shoulders and Pederson's coaching chops. Which, to be fair? It should fall that way. We'll see what happens in about three - five weeks from now. The draft cannot get here soon enough!

not sure how you can say that. He's the bloody GM. He's the one signing the guys and putting his neck on the line if they fail.

If they (the FA we signed) do in fact turn the team around, maybe we can finally be done with the stupid [BLEEP] ACL jokes.

And if anything, I'll say this puts all the pressure on Doug 2.0 - we spent like madmen, filled a bunch of gaps in the roster, no excuses, the expectations should be for us to compete. Maybe not playoffs, but we shouldn't be a pushover, either.

I can't speak for everyone, but this is really a 180° from last year - dang near everything we did screamed incompetency, indecision, and unpreparedness. Gonna be a long summer, I'm Jonesing already.

If things turn out well, a lot of people owe Khan an apology over the decision to stick with Baalke too.

Blame or Credit? Which is Which? As I see it, Pederson may have had influence (seriously involved) BUT Baalke mad it happen of which whom is the victor? We signed 6 of 6 targeted FAs + 1. IJS. Will they impress?

Time Will Tell.

NH3...

Yeah, this pretty much somes up my thinking too. There are no superstars although we got some good starters that will make contributions. The salaries make most of the signings questionable value but at this point nearly any change is good change.

The jokes may be stupid but they're well earned, lol.
Yes 180 degrees from last year. Everything seems to be moving in a direction despite what other GM's are saying. Time will tell if the direction is forward and by how much, but then the bar is not too high. This makes me wonder if early on after the Urban signing Baalkie and others (not Kahn) saw the dumpster fire coming with Urban as head coach and did not want to give up their cap position for his vision or lack of one. I do not believe fan pressure is the reason, but something is different, just not sure what it is. Glad we are trying at least.

Nah Baalke sucks and Khan is a poor owner. The franchise is poorly run. Throwing money around in Free agency doesn't prove anything. Still not thrilled that dude is running our draft.

Why didn't we really try to improve last year? This reeks of job saving desperation. Bad setup by the owner.

1. It's a feature and not a bug if other GM's are unhappy.

2. I kind of agree with you about something being different this year. It wouldn't be the first time we're the offseason champions but it really does feel different now. I'm hoping/thinking it's the fact that Pederson can tell Baalke what he needs better than the previous HC and probably has a better ideas of the available players too.
I don’t think a guy like Zay Jones makes the team.

Yea I get a kick out of the other GM's being a bit miffed at how our bad boy GM went about the FA period.  Claiming he messed up the valuation of players.  As for Urban I can understand he had trouble understanding what he needed. (when he was there) He inherited good programs at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida and Ohio State. This was his first rebuild. Didn't Peterson say he had been looking at players before he interviewed for the Jags job?

I can't understand

We had 2 dozen season ticket holders here on this board that called out every step that he was [BLEEP] up as he did it

How can a guy supposedly steeped in a career of football being paid millions not figure the same [BLEEP] that was so obvious to literally thousands of fans??

What a joke that clown is. No excuse.
