Adam Schefter is reporting that the Packers are trading Davante Adams to the Raiders for two picks including the Raiders first rounder in 2022.

I have two questions. Why didn't we do this deal and did Aaron Rodgers sign off on this?
Guessing 22 and 53? Not a bad deal. Just interesting with Rodgers staying and Adams going. Who the hell is he going to throw it too? Rookies?

I just heard the same on 1010.  It was for 2 premium 2022 picks. They have #22 and #53 this year. Premium???
I guess they used Adams as bait to get Aaron to resign. Once he did they realized they couldn't afford him.

Maybe they are letting Aaron have input into the draft and pick his guys...Smile

As for us doing this.  No one really wants to trade with us, well with our GM unless they can pick his pocket.
Im guessing they didnt let Rodgers know about this before he signed his deal! He made it pretty clear he wanted to carry on playing with Adams and im guessing that makes Lazard their #1 WR now?
New contract is being reported 5 years, 141.25mil

Apparently Rodgers DID know…. Which is insane.

This is what happens when the entire AFC West tries to catch up to Mahomes and Andy Reid. AFC West is loaded.
I don’t necessarily have any love for Rodgers. But man that’s dirty do it that way. I mean maybe they can still win the division because Rodgers is that much better than cousins. But Minnesota’s roster is better than the rest of Green Bay‘s. They’re not even a lock to make the playoffs without Adams.
Raiders going to be damn good with the additions of Jones and Adams
5 year 141.5 mil, damn
Jags got more for Ramsey hahaha

Raiders made all these moves but they’re likely still 3rd or 4th in the division.

At least those division games will be entertaining

And don’t forget, Jags play the AFC West this year…..

I think I’m flying out to LA for Jags/Chargers.
The whole AFC west has a shot at the playoffs.

I don't understand you.

You blasted the team for overpaying a bunch of guys over the past few days in FA, but you would be okay with trading a 1st and 2nd round pick and then giving $30 million to one player?

Given all the holes on this team, why would you want this plan?

Are you saying give up the overall #1 pick? In the pick worth chart, wouldn't the Jags have to give up 3 picks including the first picks of 2nd and 3rd round to equal what the raiders gave up?

Sure Davante is great, but a lot of that is his chemistry with Rodgers. Despite that good defenses often take him away for big plays and series.
I think the Packers are going to make a serious effort to trade for WR DK Metcalf, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract with a Seahawks team that currently lacks a proven high quality QB.

Because the guys we signed weren't elite. Adams is one of the top 2-3 WR's in the NFL. Receiver is our #1 need and I would gladly pay that much for a proven, elite NFL receiver to pair with Lawrence for years to come. As of now, we just overpaid for an average slot receiver. There is a huge difference.

I would've definitely given up the #1 overall pick for Adams. I think most people would. That's a no-brainer. Adams is a proven elite NFL WR in his prime at our biggest position of need. Why wouldn't we give up that pick? Seriously! I would probably then draft DE/OLB Sam Williams with the #33 pick and we'd be in great shape.

I was thinking the same exact thing. That would be a very wise move.

That should be the Jags.

In looking at the Packers need for a # 1 WR,  the remaining WRs on the FA marketing at best having at least one major question mark,  and the uncertainties of rookie WRs,  I think the Seahawks can get a similar offer from the Packers for DK Metcalf that the Vikings got from the Bills for WR Stefan Diggs.

That should be the Jags.

It might also be the Jags.

If the Jags would be able to work out a contract extension with DK Metcalf,  in advance of a trade becoming official,  this would enable Travis Lawrence to have a legit # 1 WR who he can grow with over the next few seasons.  It would also put newly signed UFAs WR Christian Kirk and TE Evan Engram in better positions to succeed with the Jags.
