They should take that cap money from Linder's retirement and throw it at JC Tretter. 1,000+ quality snaps logged 5 years in a row. He'll hold up.

This is a major blow.

Center position is so overlooked that it is crazy. Possibly the most important position in the oline besides LT.
We will miss him. I am curious how highly they view Shatley.

Unfortunately Linder's retiring bring our cap to the exact 13.6 million it will take to sign our rookie pool. We'll need to make some other moves to clear space if we want to sign anyone else.

I sure am glad they vastly overpaid a slot WR. So glad.
Out of curiosity. Who was the last Jaguar to play their entire career here and retire? I honestly can’t recall one since Meester.

I don't think they are overlooking it.

Doug mentioned in a presser from the league meetings today that Shatley is really smart pre-snap and that he and Lawrence have good communication established.

Does he give up more pressure than Linder?  Yes, he does, and they will certainly look to upgrade that in either this draft or next offseason, but fixing three positions on the O-Line in one offseason is a tall order. Center may have to wait.

Doug also mentioned they want to add depth in the draft along the o-line, and later mentioned they like tackles that can move inside and play guard, and guards that can move in and play center.
Shatley is a fine stop gap. This draft is also flush with high upside IOL prospects. Zach Tom, Wattenburg, or Lindstrom at 106 fixes the problem.

AFAIR, Richardson can play guard so it makes sense they gave him a new contract. I would think it helps any backup to be as versatile as possible.

Yes, I'd imagine his versatility loomed large in the decision to bring him back and will be a trait to watch for in OL draft prospects.

From the presser, it seems they are happy with the current tackle trio and that Little will get a chance to unseat Taylor. I'm sensing they'll take a stab at a right tackle who could move inside to guard prospect later in the draft. Little could then take over for Robinson at LT next season. I hate the idea of giving Robinson a long-term deal, and it seems like the FO is taking a wait and see approach to that based on his play.
Time to draft some young big uglies.
It was time. Too many injuries. Best of luck to him.
Yeah he was injured a lot. Nice talent and a nice career.

I don't think it's a major blow. I think Shatley was the starting center when the Colts got ambushed the last game. I'm sure Shatley will have some draft competition to keep him from hanging out with a bag of cheetos instead of the bench press this offseason.

Telvin? Kind of an asterisk situation.
Good luck to Linder. Can't blame him for making this decision. I do expect the team to draft a center, likely at the top of round 4, unless Linderbaum falls to the 2nd round.

That was the other name I was thinking about. I ended up coming down on the other side of the asterisk.
