We just signed one of the best RGs in the league. Could put him at LG

I don't like the idea for several reasons:

(1) Little may very well be the LT of the future. He has the frame and already proved he can be an at least average LT late in the season.
(2) The FO might reach a long-term deal with Cam during the season, which would put Little at RT. Drafting Neal or Ekwonu would bump Little inside to guard, which is a total waste of his skillset.
(3) Neal and Ekwonu are projects. They need grooming to play LT, and they wouldn't play LT this season unless Cam goes down. Playing out of position the first year without a clear plan to move to LT later is a waste of the #1 pick.
(4) Hutch, Walker, and Thibs are all more elite prospects and would become immediate starters at their natural positions.

Face palm at drafting a guard/project at #1.

Hutch all day. No one is worth the pick at number 1 for o-line. Grab a value lineman round 2.
A 1 year 7 million dollar player did not sway our pick at #1.
wonder if he knows he has to go up against the AFC South Gauntlet of QBs in Tannehill, Davis Mills and Matt Ryan.
Pederson is a believer it starts with the trenches. He is right and like he keeps getting pass rushers!
Yes I’m liking what I’m seeing

Here's what I foresee based on drafting Hutch or Travon Walker at #1.

Base 3-4:

     #1 pick/Chaisson (LE) -- Brown/Hamilton -- Fatukasi/Hamilton -- Smoot/Robertson-Harris -- Allen/Key

Rush Situations:

     #1 pick -- Smoot -- Hamilton/Fatukasi -- Key -- Allen

4-2-5 Situations (Nickel):

     #1 pick -- Fatukasi/Brown -- Smoot/Hamilton -- Allen

More like Baalke with Pederson's consultation.

Just when I start getting excited, you all have to remind me that Chaisson is our starter.

Hes not and he won't see rhe field much this year unless he improves dramatically. He's still really young though and sometimes it takes players a few years.

I think it should be flipped regarding run vs pass - Arden Key is an inside pass rush specialist not a run stuffer.

When they are in a 4-2 front for nickel downs, key is a rotational pass rusher from the DE spot.
In 3-4 pass looks he can rush from the 3-4 DE spot.
3-4 run looks should feature the heavier guys and run stuffers.

3-4 Rush front:

#1 Pick (weak side OLB)  -Hamilton /Tufele(LDE)  - Fatukasi (NT) -  Brown/RRH (RDE)  - Allen (strng sd OLB)

3-4 pass rush front:

#1 pick/Chaisson - Smoot - Hamilton - Arden Key - Allen

I think Smoot and Key are your best 3-4 DE options to get after the passer from either side of your NT.

(Hamilton may prove to be a better pass rush NT than Fatukasi whose specialty is stuffing the run - but that's just a hunch at this point)
Very nice addition. Key is only 25 and found his niche as an inside pass rusher last season. The pass rush, with the addition of Hutchinson should go from almost non-existent in 2021-22 to very good in 2023. I can't say that I'm optimistic regarding the future of Chaisson, but imagine if he is able to demonstrate the pass rush skills that the Jaguars were expecting when drafting him in round 1. Some may forget that he is only going to be 23 years old to begin next season and it isn't totally unreasonable to believe this new coaching staff will do for him what the 49er's did for Key last season. Regardless, the team should know for sure after next season whether Chaisson will remain with the team or decide to cut their losses.

Regarding any discussion on who to take with the first pick, I continue to believe that Hutchinson would be a "no-brainer." He is the best and safest pick in this draft. Strengthening the offensive line is definitely a top 3 need for the Jaguars, but they have already added a Pro-Bowl guard and franchised their left tackle for another season. They will most likely add a couple of offensive linemen in this draft, including a center/guard and right tackle- both to hopefully become starters as early as the 2023-24 season. While I'm still hoping for a trade back offer too good to pass up in Round 1, the selection of Hutchinson would be a great alternative.
Little couldn’t beat out Taylor last year. He probably won’t this year.

If it's anybody but an Edge player, or a trade down at #1 it'll be a failure.

Realistically, it should be Hutch. He's the safest player in this draft imo and a position of need. I don't think he'll ever be a superstar in the league, but I think he'll be a very productive player throughout his career. He just screams safe and for a team that has struggled to hit on 1st round picks, they must hit on this one.

Keep it simple, take Hutch and keep it moving.

With how this team was run last year, I have no doubt Little wasn't even given a chance to beat out Taylor. Just like they kept Cisco on the bench while all Wingard did was lead the league in missed tackles every week.

What makes you think he will never be a superstar in the league?  He has the size, had great production, crazy athleticism, great at settingthe edge etc.  Who do you think is the best player in the draft because that's who we need to take and I think that who Doug and Baalke will want.  To me Hutch is the best player and he was the highest graded player in college football last year.  If you're calling the best player the safest then it makess sense.
It is amazing to me that people can be so sure they know the best player in this year's draft. They all reference grades so I went looking. I googled 2022 draft player evaluations. I took the first 8 of them and noted the rank of the players. I added them up and found the top players were as follows
1. Kyle Hamilton
2. Aiden Hutch
3. Evan Neal
4. Kayvon Thibs
5. Ikem Ekwondo

Kyle was 10 points better than #2 and 3 who were deadlocked. Then another 10 point differential to the next 2. This tells me is there is really no BAP this year. There is a BAP based on what your personal opinion is nothing else. If the team feels the need to go defense then #1 or #2, go offense then #3. But remember this if we go defense then our next pick will need to be offensive line as we only have a 1 year rental on Cam. Whoever we get will need a year to get acclimated so next year is too late. So #33 is gonna not be a receiver.

I am betting if we take an edge rusher at 1, Chaisson does not make the final roster.

Judging a rookie coming off a major injury to a vet in the league?  Ok

Agreed.  If we could get a 7th round pick for him right now it would be a win.
