Isn't this what Baalke said in the press conference when he was selected?

Yes. With Pederson also saying something along the lines of versatility. It's a valid concern. Which, again, was reiterated and echoed not even an hour ago by Jeff and Dan on 1010XL.
I didn't want to say it. I am glad they said it though. I really hope we just didn't draft a Smoot type player last night numero uno. No disrespect to Smoot. He's been a solid player.... for where he was drafted.
You don't draft a Smoot type player numero uno. Baalke thinks he just landed the next Aldon Smith. Sorry, I don't see that.
Whom are they that said this? Also since Smoot is still a Jaguar, why is he criticized?
Enquiring Minds.

No issue with the trade. Fine with LBs that put themselves in the right positions and think fast. We have done the speedy stats but low football path before and it is a problem at linebacker.
Was underwhelemd at number 1 but meh was a bad year to have that pick and our draft position worked against our needs.

In wait and see mode atp. We overspent on WR in FA and didn't trade like the other teams that acquired some top ones did, so it left us with the draft. We still need OL, Wr, and TE. I'm waiting till it's said and done, to see what actually changed besides the money being paid to the final 53 to improve overall.
Currently at a C- with FA and extensions setting the tone for the draft....and Lloyd grades an A for me so that should tell you the rest.

I give it an A+
Why not? We won't really be able to grade this draft for a couple of years at least. So why not be a homer and give it an A+.
Screw all you negative Nancys. Both these guys are going to the Hall of Fame.

I'm already looking forward to Mr. Walker introducing himself to Mr. Henry....

1st pick - B. Time will tell if this was a huge overreach or a genius move.
2nd pick - A. Saw him against SDSU cause I lost a bet to my SD cousin and had to watch all of SDSU's games last year. Guy was all over the field; tackles and assists.
I'm not a big draftnik, but based on the big run in RD1, I just wonder how many quality WR's are even going to be left by the time we pick in RD3. Could be we are done with that position and may go after OL?

This reminds me of that time the Rams drafted Jason Smith #2 overall. Or when the Chiefs drafted Eric Fisher #1 overall. Robert Gallery #2 overall. Or how about the year Cleveland took Courtney Brown #1 overall. Gary Glick was drafted by the Steelers in 1956 as a Safety. He ended up making 9 Field Goals as a Steeler and was on another team after 2 years. No All Pro’s or Pro Bowl’s.
They keep saying this was a draft that nobody was worth the number 1 pick, but that’s not the case. Somebody will emerge as the best player and the Jags had a shot to pick the creme of the crop. They could have anybody they wanted, and they went with a guy that had 9 career sacks.
If there was a time to just take the safe pick and draft a LT, this was the year. Worst case scenario just pick Hutchinson. But Walker?? What we’re they thinking. I would have been ok if they drafted the best CB in the country. Anybody but Walker.
Walker is a first round talent, but he’s not the best player in the draft.

As for the Lloyd pick, I am ecstatic, guy will come in one day and play, but more importantly he is a very high character guy and a leader, perfect for us.
Walker is missing that on his stat sheet. He's the epitome of boom or bust for this team. Georgia moved him around a lot but they're reiterating he's staying at one spot to hone his skills.
I don't know. It'll be interesting though. Can't wait to see him in camp.

I think every single one of us would GLADLY eat crow if Walker ends up a HOFer. It’s ok to be critical and have an opinion.
