He ain't recovering from this:

If either of those guys proves a better back-up corner than Claybrooks, as well, it's a no-brainer.

At least - that's my guess on that spot.

Claybrooks is working his tail off and is going to give it his all.

I'm not rooting against him or anything.

He has exciting potential with all that speed. It just hasn't come together for him yet in the form of consistent play in a returner role or as a back-up DB.  Could be a good camp competition to watch given the 3 obvious starting corners and a rehabbing #1 return specialist.

He will need time to develop, but he projects as an outside receiver with good speed. With good coaching and hard work, he might become the team's starting X receiver in year 2. Although they guaranteed him much more than the typical UDFA, they must believe he has the traits to succeed on the outside.

Does he have a route tree, even if limited, that can be immediately implemented in year 1? Or do you think he is more likely "break glass in case of emergencies" for his rookie year?
I wouldn't expect him to be very productive in his rookie year, but he does have the potential if he works hard and improves his route running. With a team overstocked with slot receivers, he was a good addition.

My question was more like is he just going to be either inactive or just 4 x special teamer this season. Or is reasonable think he could polish his route running on say 2-3 routes that play off of each other to get on the field a bit as a WR.

Let's be clear, the over/under on him if he were to make the team would be like 200 total yards on the season.

He's a vertical route runner with good ball tracking ability that needs work on more technical route running.

Best bet for him seeing the field in year one is if other intended X's miss time and they use him to take his defender deep, occasionally targeting him if he gets a step on his guy.

Otherwise, he'd probably have to develop as a route runner quicker than most UDFAs to actually earn starts.

Holy cow. Run, Forrest, run. That dude left everyone in a cloud of dust. I wonder how good his hands are.

Looked a bit like Matt Jones in the beginning, but the end of that run he did look fast.
Eugene Ford incoming with some passion.

If this kid can make the squad on ST he ought to be fun to root for.

Kid lays the wood, doesn't he!
So we got the guy that can make QB's do helicopter spins? I will gladly take him. Matty Ice better watch out.....
We just added a QB from Brown thanks to the Eagles messing up his contact.
Trevor better watch out.

He'll compete with Luton for the practice squad spot.  I liked Luton for development purposes before he got picked up by Seattle prior to signing him to the practice squad last year.  Perry was the Ivy League's offensive player of the year, East/West Shrine bowl MVP, and is a versatile athlete (NFL.com citing some to see him in a Taysom Hill-type roll).  The Luton/Perry battle for QB3 will be an interesting one.
Kevin Austin is impressive as an UDFA. I'm intrigued to see him play at the next level. Hopefully he'll make the 53-Man roster.

Time Will Tell.

Really curious as to why Austin didn't get drafted. He seems to be big and strong but also not a bad route runner.

I wondered that myself. Maybe there are some off-the-field issues.

The route running is actually questioned in most of his scouting reports.

He ran a limited tree in school and isn't very polished.
