"finally seen what we seen"

This team needs to play their first game the way the '17 jags played theirs, fast and ready to win. If they do that then I believe this team can compete for a playoff spot

If we want to pick a prior Jags team for this group to emulate, why not pick one from the late 90's instead of the '17 team?

'99 Jags.

Awesome offense AND defense

Sometimes all that glitters is indeed gold
I hope he turns out to be a diamond in the ruff.

As a franchise, we don't see that often.

Isnt that the truth.

Well I don't think we're 90s roster good yet.
We definitely should be 2017 good, although maybe the D probably won't be as good as that D and the O is probably more efficient and effective than that squad.

We were lucky with minimal injury that year, but I do think we leaned on Shatley, Wells and Reed some along the line in 2017.

Not sure we have that kind of luck again and not sure this O-line will end up performing as well as that one did.

I think emulating 2017, but with a young ascending QB isn't a bad thing.

I see this squad pretty differently from that one though.

Different schemes on both sides of the ball, different players to suit that, a much more aggressive coaching style, and of course the QB difference is pretty dramatic even though Bortles had some good games that season.

Also - I think Trent and Doug were actually very serious about the character element and culture building.
I tend to write that stuff off as so much coach speak, but there is actually a clear trend in almost every single player they've added. It's a pleasant surprise to me to be wrong for having doubted that.
These kids are smart with good attitudes and strong work ethic. It's almost like they did what Gene Smith tried to do on the character front, but they may have actually landed some talent in the process.
Beating out Treadwell and Shenault was no small task.
Since we have a bye week, I wanted to give a shout out to Him Jones for the fake punt reception for a 1st down against the Saints in Prime Time.

Huge play.

The legacy of Him Jones continues. He fits In conversations with guys like Montell Owens, Kasim Osgood, Alvis Whitted, Reggie Barlow, Nick Sorenson, Corey Grant, Dana Hall, Elvis Joseph type player. Every roster has a guy like Tim and he’s obviously a hard worker. Glad he’s a Jaguar.

A guy that hangs around on the roster bc he is a gem on special teams and makes a good backup in a pinch.

Great route, spun the defender around, secured the catch with strong hands, 1st down. Changes the complexion of the ball game.
Legacy?

As a Southern Miss fan let me tell you what there is to know about Tim…
1. He’s not a talker
2. He quietly catches most everything thrown his way
3. He’s not afraid of contact and blocks well
4. He catches fish almost as well as footballs so I’m sure he’s loving Jacksonville lol.

Seriously though. The kid is a workhorse with none of the typical WR “diva” traits.

Mississippi Jag was spot on with his analysis of T.Jones.

Was it spinning the defender, or just a play that took advantage of sleepy coverage? Dude was heading back to block for the return and wasn't even thinking fake pass from what I saw.

It was a well executed fake. It wasn't anything legendary. Making plays when your number is called is what keeps a guy like Tim Jones on a roster.
