I liked Robinson and even though we got the better of the trade i still probably wouldn't have done it simply because unless you've a peak Derrick Henry in the backfield I'm just not keen on having your running game go though one guy... which is where we've been since he left. Your only an injury away for being one dimensiinal. It's not priority #1 in the draft but if still like to see us take at least one guy in the later rounds.
As for Robinson, it's a shame he couldn't stay fit enough to land at least one really decent contract, let's hope he can hang around long enough to get his years in for pension eligibility at least!

He needs the right team.

His advanced metrics declined so fast during the season. And the 50 yard TD was because the defense missed an assignment and there was no one even close to him.
Loved JRob pre injury but once he got that achilles, he was no longer useful. Go younger.
If he’d come back as a goal line/ short yardage option I would be pretty happy

He would be good for this. Very good.
I assumed the Jets cut his time to stop the conditional incentives from being hit and losing a higher draft pick.

No chance

and a left Achilles tendon.

I would take James Robinson over Snoop Conner immediately.
I think we should bring him back even if we don't want him just to troll the Jets. Would be the ultimate troll job by Baalke lol. Would make him look like a genius haha

And the jets would probably not want to trade with the jags anymore haha
Crazy if you think about it, we went from thinking he was a #1 back and should be paid decently to perhaps getting him on the cheap as a UFA (Unwanted Free Agent)
Anybody else read this on fan-sided by Vincent Parise.

This analysis ignores a number of things.
It's not necessarily "wrong" but you're leaving important details out.
The season you describe with all of the "decline" involved:
- A knee injury no one is mentioning (The jets should have never cleared him after the physical on that trade) Jags trainers were draining fluid from his knee the week prior to the trade
- He averaged less that 10 carries per game in those 11 weeks - was only "featured" in 3 games. "Metrics" are sketchy to interpret for RBs when they just get a smattering of carries.
It's a shame he had those injuries. Dude was on a cool pace to beat the odds and carve out a nice career undrafted.
Definitely had the look of a diamond in the rough even if slower than a true premier back. I hope he gets healthy enough to make a roster somewhere and get a little payday as depth or a role player.
RBs are somewhat disposable compared to many other positions unfortunately, and sometimes moving on and adding youth is indeed the way to go there.
Good for him. Let see if the patriots use him actually..
Could be a good fit there. Patriots are looking to bolster their offense this off season. Telling you. Watch out for them on the opening night. I could see them going after Darnell Washington for sure now.
Ugh, I hate being a fan of anything NE
