Quote:Isn't Telvin being threatened with the bench due to how well Jack is developing?

Developing after a few preseason games? I wouldn't call it development yet. He's just that talented.
This Telvin Smith is a liability nonsense is a little much.  The guy missed a couple coverages in a preseason game without scheming or looking at tendencies.  Do we forget how bad our passing defense was last year when he missed the final two games.  Jack isn't coming for Smith's job he is coming for Poz's if they are going to take anyone off the field to make room for Jack it will be Skuta or Poz.

Exactly! This is the point... Jack had a decent preseason game, and now people are questioning Telvin.. That's humorous.. Especially when it was the fourth preseason game with no real starters playing.. And their were plays Jack made in the preseason that gave up Td's, because he was not staying discipline..

At the end of the day i believe Jack and Telvin gonna be studs.. Its just a matter of is this coaching staff the staff thats gonna witness it..
I believe Telvin made the top 100 current NFL players? Now people want to start Jack over him? Good lord. I know that list means nothing, but c'mon.

Telvin should not be leaving the field just to get Jack on the field.

If our defense can't allow for Jack and Telvin to be on the field at the same time I question the choice in defense more than I do either player's ability.

This.

It's really quite simple. Poz and Telvin were the dead last nickel duo LB in yards allowed last year. They are both quite bad against the pass, even though they are both quite bad in the exact opposite ways. It's just the truth, sorry.

Unfortunately, Poz is the only person on the team right now that can adequately line up the defense...so he stays on the field until someone else can possibly do it.

That means if Jack is better in coverage than Telvin (he will be very quickly if he isn't already), then he should be the other nickel linebacker alongside Poz.

Once the team feels that Jack can get the defense adjusted properly then they probably will have Jack sub for Poz instead.

Let's face it....Bradley is the reason both can't be on the field at the same time.

Must have Seattle defense

It is a reasonable argument to wonder why Poz has been the only one who can line up the defense for so long.
Thinking that Jack will just step in and play the position like a veteran pro is a little....um...naive.

We were quite happy to sign Telvin Smith a couple years ago....why in the world would you want to throw away the experience he has so far?

quote from the team roster on Smith...."Smith’s 227 tackles are the most ever by a Jaguars player in his first two seasons ... His streak of 16 straight games with six-plus tackles is also the NFL’s longest active streak ..

You want to throw this away for an unproven rookie? Com'On Man!

You plug Jack in behind players like Smith .....and hope Jack develops as well.

Bradley's Wednesday presser:

 - Question about Poz looking better in coverage -

Quote:Well, [Posluszny] has a really good understanding of the defense and his pass coverage, I know, when you look at some issues that showed up a year, two years ago... they're not becoming issues anymore for us.  He has a really good understanding of the scheme.  If there's this speed thing that you're talking about, it's that experience and that wisdom of playing in the package that really helps him. A guy like Myles Jack has speed. No one disputes that.  And we're trying to speed him up as much as possible to get him out on the field because, boy, it's hard to defend that....  Hopefully [Jack] gets some reps this week.  If not, then if something should happen at either position then he's the next guy.

Sounds like there's no hard and fast game plan for Jack to see defensive snaps Sunday unless Telvin or Poz have to come out.

"hopefully Jack gets some reps this week."

Good christ, you are the head coach.  Put him in the damn game.

If Jack and Telvin aren't on the field at the same time then this coaching staff is dumber than originally thought.  Which was pretty damn dumb.
